Third Quarter Module 3
Week 6
Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
This module was collaboratively designed, developed, and evaluated by the Development
and Quality Assurance Teams of SDO TAPAT to assist you in helping the learners meet the
standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and
economic constraints in schooling.
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You also
need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage their learning.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as they do the tasks
included in the module.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for guided
and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to process the
contents of the learning resource while being an active learner.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not hesitate to
consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are not alone.
We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning and gain a
deep understanding of the relevant competencies. You can do it!
Let’s Learn
After going through this module, you are expected to:
• derive inductively the relationship of exterior and interior angles of a convex

Lesson
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ANGLES
6 OF A CONVEX POLYGON
In this module, we are going to look at the properties of interior and exterior angles of
convex polygons, including how to calculate the sum of interior angles and the sum of
exterior angles.
Let’s Recall
Directions: Draw a Pentagon and answer the following questions.
1. How many sides does it have?
2. How many vertices does it have?
3. Name the vertices and label the interior angle?
4. Name the vertices and label the exterior angle?
Let’s Explore
Activity 1: Use the figure at the right. A B
x + x + x + x + x = 360°
5x = 360°
x = 72°
Let’s Dig In
Activity 2: Solve each problem completely.
1. Find the sum of the interior angles of a convex decagon.
2. Each interior angle of a regular polygon is 150°. How many sides do a polygon has?
3. The sum of the interior angles of a convex polygon is triple the sum of its exterior
angles. How many sides does the polygon have?
For items 4-6: Given with the exterior angle on each vertex as shown:
Let the interior angles at A, B, C measure a, b, c respectively while the measure of
the exterior angles d, e, f.
Determine the following sum of angles:
4. a + d = _________
5. (a + d) + (b + e) + (c + f) = _________
6. a + b + c = _________
7. Josh says that the missing angle is 72°. Do you agree with Josh? Explain why?
32°
40° ?
Let’s Remember
Formula:
Convex Polygon is a shape that is formed out of a straight side and that does not curve
in or no angle pointing inwards.
Let’s Apply
Activity 3: For this activity, each person in your group should draw a different version of the
same polygon.
For example, if your group is creating hexagons, try to think of different ways you could draw
a hexagon.
Step 1: Draw the polygon. Carefully measure all the interior angles, then find the sum.
Step 2: Share your results with your group. If you measured carefully, you should all have
the same sum!
Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with different polygons or share results with other groups.
Let’s Evaluate
