Even though many neighboring countries have agreements with other countries, none have a network of FTAs as

extensive and strong as Singapore, making it the primary choice for companies seeking business in South-east Asia.
Here are some important trade agreements signed by Singapore out of the 15 bilateral and 12 regional free trade
agreements (total of 27).

1. ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA): The AFTA is a trade bloc consisting of ten Southeast Asian nations, including
Singapore. It aims to reduce tariffs and trade barriers within the region, promoting economic integration and
growth among its member countries.

2. Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) / Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership
(CPTPP): Originally known as the TPP, this trade agreement aimed to foster economic integration among
Pacific Rim countries. Singapore was one of the original signatories. The agreement later evolved into the
CPTPP after the United States withdrew. It aims to lower trade barriers, enhance economic cooperation, and
set standards for various aspects of trade and investment.

3. Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA): SAFTA is a bilateral trade agreement between Singapore
and Australia. It aims to eliminate tariffs and other barriers to trade in goods and services between the two
countries. The agreement also includes provisions on investment, intellectual property rights, and other
trade-related issues.

4. Singapore-United States Free Trade Agreement (SUSFTA): The SUSFTA is a bilateral trade agreement
between Singapore and the United States. It aims to promote trade and investment by reducing tariffs and
other barriers. The agreement covers a wide range of areas including goods, services, investment,
government procurement, intellectual property, labour, and environment.

5. ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA): ACFTA is a trade agreement between the member states of ASEAN
and China. It seeks to create a free trade area by gradually reducing tariffs and other trade barriers on goods
traded between the parties.

6. ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (AJCEP): This agreement is between ASEAN and Japan
and aims to promote economic integration through the reduction of tariffs, improved market access, and
enhanced economic cooperation in various sectors.

7. Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) with India: Singapore's CECA with India is a
bilateral trade agreement aimed at promoting trade and investment between the two countries. It covers
trade in goods, services, investment, and other areas.

8. European Union-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA): The EUSFTA is a bilateral trade agreement
between Singapore and the European Union. It aims to eliminate tariffs and improve market access for goods
and services, as well as promote investment and protect intellectual property rights.
9. Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP): The RCEP is a landmark trade agreement involving
15 Asia-Pacific countries, including Singapore. It is one of the largest free trade agreements in the world,
promoting economic integration by reducing tariffs, streamlining trade procedures, and enhancing
cooperation in various sectors.

10. Singapore-New Zealand Closer Economic Partnership (ANZSCEP): ANZSCEP is a bilateral trade agreement
between Singapore and New Zealand. It aims to strengthen economic relations by lowering trade barriers,
improving market access, and promoting cooperation in various sectors.

11. Japan-Singapore Economic Partnership Agreement (JSEPA): This agreement between Singapore and Japan
aims to promote trade and investment between the two countries. It covers areas such as trade in goods,
trade in services, and investment.

12. Digital Economy Agreements:

These agreements are aimed at establishing global frameworks that provide support for businesses involved
in cross-border digital trade and e-commerce. These agreements align with the Singaporean government's
strategy of enhancing its foundational infrastructure to solidify its position as a worldwide technology and e-
commerce hub. These efforts contribute to the country's expansive Free Trade Agreement network.
Singapore's pioneering Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA) with New Zealand and Chile became
operational on January 7, 2021. The DEPA, initially ratified in June 2020, stands as the world's inaugural
'digital only' trade agreement. Subsequently, on February 25, 2022, Singapore and the United Kingdom inked
the UK-Singapore Digital Economy Agreement (UKSDEA), marking the first digitally focused trade pact ever
signed by a European nation. Beyond the DEPA and UKSDEA, Singapore has entered into the subsequent
Digital Economy Agreements:
