inside our… skin?
SLO (s): Students will be able to:
 listen for specific information
 practice topic vocabulary
Skills focused on:
Reading , Observing, Critical Thinking, Vocabulary
Resources:
Vocabulary flash cards, Board, Marker, Learner’s Book, Activity book

Methodology :
Activity 1:
Brainstorming:
 Introduce new vocabulary with meanings through picturecards.
 Show the chart and elicit students’ knowledge about humanbody parts, what more to be learnt
through KWL charts anddiscuss about what parts are under our skin e.g. bones, organs, muscles
etc. Enlist them on white board.
Activity 2:
 Play the audio track 52 and as students listen to it write allimportant facts about
heart & lungs on board.Students will write any two facts about heart & lungs in their notebooks.
 Students to read the text carefully remembering the important information, afterwards listen to the
audio track 53 and answerthe Qs.
Activity 3:
 Write different Qs about human body parts on small pages, students will be given one
page per student. Students have towrite their name and answer for teacher to check afterwards.
Let’s do it!
 Students to discuss if they have ever gone to a doctor and howdoctor checks their pulse, guide
students about checking the pulse.
Activity:
 Once students have learnt how to take their pulse, they willtake pulse as per the activity given
in Ex 4, LB pg. 107.
Success Criteria:
Remember to:
 read the text for information and answer the relevant questions

Activity 1:
Prepare the flash cards of characters and vocabulary from pgs. 22,23
Pre Reading: Students to guess the story from the title and cover illustration. Show flash cards of picture
words for making students familiar with characters to anticipate the story.
Students to predict the upcoming story line by looking at the picture illustration beside the text

Activity 2:
Play the audio of story reading till page 23 from the following digital resource.

 Students will read the text by taking turns following the pronunciation and intonation pattern.
Highlight how a punctuation mark affects the intonation pattern. They are to relate the text with
pictures given along the text.
 Discussion about the events, characters &vocabulary will take place.Students to underline verbs
in the text. Students to read the text again and identify ‘who said this, to whom’.
Activity 3:
Afterwards students will read the text one by one following the pronunciation and intonation pattern.
Explain the story in simple words for students’ comprehension. Encourage students to guess the
meaning of difficult words using their prior knowledge and the context; afterwards write the difficult
words and their meanings on whiteboard

importance of healthy eating habits and physicalexercises for good healthy life. Students to discuss the
topic in light of their existingknowledge about the topic (how to stay healthy?)
Activity 2:
 Students to listen to the audio track 54 and discuss theinformation already known to
them and the latest one.
 Students will read each health tip given in the text. Explain withemphasis how important it is to keep
them physically fit.Write the difficult words from the text on whiteboard, students to look for the
meanings in dictionary and write the words andmeanings in their notebooks.
Activity 3:
 Students while working in groups draw and colour one fruit similar to each colour of the
rainbow. Further the work will bedisplayed in students’ corner.
 Students will work in pairs and try doing the exercises given onpg. 108. (Sports period can be used for
these exercises)
Write:
 Discuss importance of oral health and let students elicit theway of brushing teeth properly.
Students to write in 3 sentences.
