BRAC Winter Competition 2024

The Bunbury Regional Athletics Club is once again proposing to run a

limited Winter Program at its Hay Park Athletics Arena as a follow-up to
the program we ran last year, which proved to be reasonably successful
with club members who enjoying some excellent winter weather were able
to get some good throws in on these Saturday competitions. We did offer
some distance events at the same time but they did not prove as popular as
with the throws.
At this stage, we are proposing to mainly concentrate on the throws but
there has been interest in running some sprints which we will attempt to
do if the demand is there. The program itself will be run on the last
SATURDAY of each month from April through to August 2024. Dates will be
locked in as follows:
• Saturday April 27 - 60m and 100m runs / Throws Pentathlon with
the 56lb weight throw
• Saturday May 25 - 60m and 200m runs / Throws Pentathlon with the
100lb weight throw
• Saturday June 29 - 60m and 400m runs / Throws Pentathlon
• Saturday July 27 - 60m and 100m runs / Throws Pentathlon with the
56lb weight throw
• Saturday August 31 - 60m and 200m runs / Throws Pentathlon with
the 100lb weight throw
At some stage as well we may try to fit in a super weight pentathlon but
this will be dependent on time and light constraints during the winter
months. Advanced warning will be given if we can run it at some stage
(June 29th is a likely date).
Please note normal Pentathlon protocols will be adopted for all throwing
events (ie 3 throws each for the 5 pentathlon throws and 6 throws for the
individual throws). Visitors are most welcome to bring their own throwing
implements but please be aware they will need to go into the general pool
of equipment for all to use.
The program will start at 2.00pm on each Saturday with the sprints first-up
with the throws to follow and hopefully depending on numbers be finished
by 4.30pm. Please note any runners who are looking at the sprints, they
will need to arrive at least 20 minutes early to undertake any warm-ups as
well as advising the Club through FB they intend to run any of the sprints
on the program.
These events will not preclude financial club members who may wish to
undertake their own personal training on a Saturday afternoon which is a
time normally booked out to the Club. For financial club members there
will be no charge but for any outside visitors a fee of $10.00 will apply or
$5.00 for Juniors (+12).
