Course Course Description: A law that governs the dealings regarding
Description commercial matters, quietly known as business law. Business Law, a
branch of civil law comprises governance of commercial and business
transactions in both the public and private realms. Business law helps to
resolve the business disputes, maintain order and build acceptable
standards when it come close to the other business, government and
customers. A better understanding of legal matters also provides a
manager with a framework on which a decision can be made. This
course covers important sub branches of Business Laws, such as
Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law, Consumer Protection Law,
Competition Law, Law of Sale of Goods and Cyber Law etc.
Course 1. To create awareness on different aspects of Indian Contract Act and
Objectives contract of guarantee with their application.
2. To develop an understanding of legal facts & solutions to matters of
Intellectual Property Rights and Sale of Goods.
3. To discuss the provisions related to matters related to Competition
Act and Cyber laws
4.To describe the regulatory framework to be adopted to issues related
to Consumer Protection.
5.To guide the process for building possible legal defence and solution
to cases revolving around different aspects of business and its
engagements.

the knowledge of business laws for matters pertaining to their individual

CIA-1
Type of Assignment: Group Assignment having an individual component to it- Drafting of a contract and identifying the essential elements of

the contract therein.
Assignment Description: CIA-1 is a comprehensive CIA consisting of a group assignment in which the students have to submit a contract draft
as a group along with a report by each individual member in the group.. For this each group would be given a situation for which they would be
required to draft a contract which should clearly satisfy all the essentials of a contract mentioned under the Indian Contract Act. The “contract
draft” must be submitted for evaluation along with an additional report in which each group member (individually) has to explain one essential
element (of a valid contract) getting fulfilled in the contract draft submitted by their group. Teachers can select and assign the situation to be
drafted to the students (group). There can ideally be four to five members in the group.
Learning Outcome: Explain and demonstrate basic concepts of contract law in India.

CIA III : Moot Court. (Covering cases from either IPR, Competition Act, Consumer Protection Act or Cyber Laws)
Assessment Description: CIA-3 will be based on the basic form of a Moot Court. The students would be given cases by the teacher relating to
either the IPR, Competition Act or Consumer Protection Act or Cyber law based on the discretion of the teacher and the stage of course
completion in their class .. This would be given a few days in advance of the CIA. On the date of the CIA each student in a group would be
asked to take either the role of plaintiff or defendant and accordingly participate in the Moot Court. The students would be evaluated individually
based on their presentation of points while they participate in the moot court. The group will also be asked to prepare a court memorial and
submit the same.
