Module Guide

Module Title Statistics

Module Code: B9DA101
Programme: MSc in Data Analytics
Academic Year: 2020-21
Delivery Mode Hybrid/FT
FT/PT:
Lecturer Name(s): Dr Shahram Azizi Email: Shahram.azizisazi@dbs.ie

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this module, learners will be able to:

1. Critically evaluate tools and methodologies to select, explore, summarize, interpret and
visualize data

2. Offer a critical analysis of a problem domain and select and propose appropriate statistical and
probabilistic techniques to analyse and gain insight from a given dataset

3.
Create strong analytical predictive models.

4. Develop practical skills in data modelling technologies.

5. Present a statistical learning of a problem domain with a critical evaluation of the tools and
techniques applied and the value of the insights derived based on identified measures

Learning Activities:
Each week will consist of a number of different activities:

1. Introduction to concepts and theory using slides/ OneNote recorded in Panopto and
live zoom lecturing.
2. Implementation of theory using hands on examples in R
3. Q and A
4. Tutorials
