The Constitution is the fundamental law of a country which reflects

the fundamental principles on which the government of that country
is based.
• First proposed by M.N. Roy in 1934 (Founder of Indian
communist party)
• Indian National Congress demanded for Constitution of
India in 1935
• J.N. Nehru demand a independent constitution in 1938
• Demand was accepted in principle in August offer of
1940 (Lord Linlithgow)
• 1942 -Cripps proposals were rejected due to territorial
ambitions of Muslim league
• 1946 - Cabinet mission plan proposed a scheme
acceptable by both parties
