Ladies and gentlemen, imagine a world where a nation's security lies solely in the strength of its

healthcare system. It's a captivating notion, isn't it? Yet, as captivating as it may be, it remains a utopian
fantasy, a mirage in the desert of geopolitical reality. For when we speak of safeguarding a nation's
interests, protecting its people, and preserving its way of life, we cannot overlook the irreplaceable role
of a robust military structure. Today, I stand before you not to belittle the importance of healthcare, but
to advocate passionately for the indispensable necessity of investing in our military forces as the
bedrock of national security.

In the 20th century, national security was strictly a matter of military power and readiness, but with the
dawn of the nuclear age and the threats of the Cold War, it became clear that national security could
not only be defined in a context of conventional military warfare.

Insurgent groups, such as Boko Haram, have been at the forefront of the in-cidence of terrorism.
Domestic conflicts across a number of African countries have resulted in non-state actors utilizing
terrorism as a means to achieve an end. According to the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP, 2020),
violent conflict accounted for more than 96% of terrorism-related deaths in 2019.Incidents of terrorism
can affect economic performance by creating invest-ment pessimism that can linger over time,
particularly in developing countries and thereby reducing domestic investment and Foreign Direct
Investment.

Investing in the military enhances our ability to respond quickly and decisively to emerging security
challenges, including terrorism, cyberattacks, and geopolitical unrest. These threats require specialized
capabilities and modern technology, which can only be acquired through sustained investment in
defense research, development, and procurement. By staying ahead of the curve technologically, we
can effectively counter evolving threats and maintain our strategic advantage on the world stage.

My opponent might come to affirm that investing in Healthcare would help prevent or combat
outbreaks of infectious diseases like Covid-19. However, disease outbreaks can be as a result of natural
disaster or a default during experiment, not because of lack of investment. In essence,an investment in
healthcare doesn't necessarily guarantee an absence of disease outbreak. The United States of America
remains the highest spending country in Healthcare yet ranks as the most affect country during the
covid-19 pandemic

In conclusion, while my esteemed opponent's arguments shows their dedication to healthcare, I must
insist that when it comes to safeguarding our nation's security, a strong military is not just an option, it's
the frontline defense that we need. So, let's remember, in the battle of priorities, while healthcare heals
the wounds, it's the military that ensures we don't get wounded in the first place.
