HISTORY OF ARNIS

 This martial art originated in the Philippines.

 The primary weapon used is the cane or baton.

 It also involves hand to hand combat, grappling, and weapons disarming.

 used an assorted range of weaponry for combat and self-defense.

 Arnis is otherwise known as eskrima, kali and garrote.

 traditionally involved rattan, swords, daggers and spears.

It was founded by Remy Presas and he used it as a self-defense system. Nowadays it is considered as one of the events in
Palarong Pambansa wherein Anyo is one of the popular one.

 In recent South East Asean Game 2019 the Philippine Arnis team wrapped up 14 gold medals that made them the
champion.

 Since Arnis began to develop an accessible story of Filipino cultural heritage.

 Senator Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri authored and spearheaded the law declaring Arnis as the national sport of the
country.

 At that time was recently approved and signed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo into law.

EQUIPMENT

1. Wooden Stick-made of rattan. 2. Foam- cushion material- should be foaming the padded sticks.

3. Head Protector-refers to a pair of protective head gear to include an impact-worthy face mask.

4. Body Protector- refers to a pair of protector, properly cushioned to avoid injuries

Etiquette in Physical Education

Activity 1.1: Agree or Disagree


Put a positive sign (+) if you agree with the statement and a negative sign (-) if you disagree.

_3. Play by the rules and be honest.
_______4. Shake hands with the opponent before and after regardless of the outcome of the game.
5. If you disagree with what your opponent has done, raise your hand and shout.

_7. If you are experiencing pain in an activity or exercise, continue because it is part of an exercise.

Etiquette

Etiquette is meant to be a guideline using common sense, fairness, politeness and concerns for others.

French word etiquette is “ticket” or “label attached to something for identification.”

There are written and unwritten rules in sports that require people to follow to make it fair.
To ensure respect, fairness and safety in sports
sportsmanship is a conduct (such as fairness, respect and graciousness in winning or losing) to one participating in sport.

Protocols/Etiquette Before-During-After a Physical Activity


Here are some tips to stay SAFE during and after an exercise:
1. Wear comfortable clothing.
2. Use appropriate gear for the activity..
3.Taking warm-up and cool down before and after an activity will lower the risk of strains and sprains;
4. Take appropriate breaks during the activity.
5. To give you some stamina, eat light food. But exercising immediately after a full meal will affect your digestion.
6. Be hydrated.
7. Beware of the weather and environmental conditions.
8. Listen to your body.

Read the rules and regulations of the place.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness.
Be mindful of others.
Etiquette Guidelines in Attending or Joining in Sports as Physical Activity
Being a good sport
Arriving on time
Greeting and shaking hands with each player or with fellow spectators
Players should be honest about their ability to play the sport .
Players should be gracious winners and gracious losers; they should not argue about the score or the referee’s call.
