Dear All….

Even after posting very good material on resume tips by pranav sir, few of our
friends could not design their CV as it should be so that it attracts the recruiter. I am
posting my CV. You can have idea on how to design a CV.

Here is some tips u can follow:

Formatting Related:

• Keep line-spacing as 1.5 and not 1.0

• Stick to a single font-face & font-size. I suggest VERDANA & 10.

• Resume Title i.e. your name could be of large size.

• Whenever needed make the headings bold. But keep the same font face &
size.

• Use bullet points whenever possible that also of only one type.

• Paragraphs as justified alignment.

• Do not use any other colour but blank.

Content Related:

• Resume title should be your name & not RESUME or CV

• Followed by present address, e-mail ID & mobile number

• Put the logo of any certification u hold, in the same line of your name

• Career objective: It is one of the important part of your CV. It must be

impressive. Remember Impressive.

• Career Summary: write your total experience, certifications, current

company & any other info that u think is important

• Software competency: use tabular format. Bold the technology name u

have expertise. Bold the tools that have significant importance in industry. Do
remember to mention programming language / technology, RDBMS /
Database, Application Server and Tools.
o In the programming language field, write all u have worked on in past.
But bold that u has expertise in present.
o Remember the difference between application server & web server.
Pramati, Weblogic, Websphere are not web server. These are
application server. Tomcat is not complete application server but is a
web container. Tomcat is not a web server.
o U must know the release versions of tools u are working on presently.
o U must know that websphere has studio & weblogic has workshop (for
8.1 or older version) and studio (from 9.0 onwards, it is eclipse based)
both. U must know which one u were working on.

• (Professional) experience: use tabular format. Must have Name of

Companies u have worked with, along with the duration. Remember, it
does not include the academic details of experience. The total experience
must sum up the experience mentioned in first point of your career summary.

• Projects: Give details of each (professional) project u have worked on

followed by the academic projects. Each (professional) project must have
mention of client, duration, OS / Platform (optional), Team Size, Data
Base, Application Server, Tools, software language and finally your role
/ contribution. Also write details of what the project is for. Mention your
responsibilities in bullet points.

• Qualification: give your academic details in tabular format or as bullet

points. Write most recent qualification first & class X details in last.

• Additional Information: Here u can mention your those abilities &

achievements which might be useful for the organization. Ex. Your knowledge
of Linux shell scripting, networking, any other scripting language, DSP etc.

• Extra Curriculum Activities: Write your extra curriculum activities right

from your schooling to present.

• Personal Profile: it must include DOB, language known (as sometimes it is

very useful), fathers name, permanent address and hobbies. U must know
about your hobbies. I mean don’t just write your hobbies; also have some
idea on it.
