1. PURPOSE

This is to assure that the requirements of testing for Continuous Emission

Monitoring System (CEMS) are meets the codes requirements and contract
specifications. This procedure is to describe the minimum requirements for
testing for CEMS which is of prime importance for the personnel safety
availability. To make sure, the works are carried out in acceptable
workmanship and follow the requirements in the quality manual.

3. INSTRUMENT TO BE USED

1.1 Measuring components gases (H2O, O2, CO, CO2, SO2, NO, NOX)
1.2 Sample gas cooler
1.3 NOX converter
1.4 “THERMOR 3K” for gas filling monitoring
1.5 Screwdriver set
1.6 Multi meter

4. SAFETY PRECAUTION

o Identifies cautions that must be observed to comply with the guidelines,

regulations, warnings and procedures in order to avoid personal injury
and damage to the device or entire system.

o Special responsible with poisonous sample gases. Mortal/ Health danger

as a result of a gas leakage. A defect in the sample gas path can possibly
cause an acute danger for humans.

o To protect the internal gas path, the gas connections are closed with
stoppers. Please DO NOT remove these stoppers until connecting the
gas lines.

o Electric contacts that could touch during work should not contain current
or should be protected against physical contact. When opening

enclosures or removing components, parts may be exposed which

contain current.

o Before connecting signal connections to the Extractive Gas Analyzer,

disconnect power from all devices which are connected to the Analyzer.
Do this when connecting plug connectors. Otherwise the internal
electronics could be damaged.

o Comply with all safety requirements described in instrument equipments

manual

5. PREPARATION TO COMMISSIONING

o The commissioning may only be carried out by authorized and

correspondingly trained personnel.

o Prior to commissioning ensure that :

- the Analyzer has been installed properly
- the Analyzer has not been damaged
- the connections have been carried out properly
- the cable glands have been sealed off
- all the screws have been tightened.

o Prior to applying the energy supply all cable connections for the external
and internal connections must be checked for tight fit

o Connect the device to the mains; compare the main voltages with the
specifications given on the rating plate before commissioning.

6. PROCESS OF COMMISSIONING

6.1 Make sure that the S700 analyzer is set up for mains voltage

6.2 Make sure that the sample gas conditioning system is operationally
ready.

6.3 Switch on the power switch. When the S700 has been switched on
the microprocessor performs an automatic self-test procedure.

6.4 If no fault is detected, the OK will appear at the end of line, thereafter
the display will change to the measuring display.

6.5 Wait for the warm-up time to pass. Wait until the function LED is
green.

6.6 Then wait another 10 minutes for the internal temperature to stabilize.

6.7 Prepare for measuring

1. Calibration

Check the Analyzer calibration before making important

measurements – because only a correctly calibrated analyzer will
produce correct measuring values. A calibration can either run
automatically or be manually controlled :

a. Automatic Calibration

The calibration procedure is completely controlled by the

S700, including the calibration gas supply. This requires an
external gas supply (from example, from gas cylinders) and
automated switching devices (for example solenoid valve),
to deliver the calibration gas to the analyzer.
Before an automatic calibration is started, the associated
settings must have been made: the nominal value for
calibration gases, the test gas waiting time, the calibration
measuring interval. When all this has been done, you only
need to push one button in a menu or give the start signal
via a control input to run automatic calibration.

b. Manual Calibration

This type of calibration requires the same external

installation for calibration gas supply as an automatic
calibration. However, control the calibration procedure. This
allows to supervise each calibration step and repeat single
steps if required.

2. Switch on the sample gas supply

If the S700 has a built-in sample pump or if the S700 controls an
external pump or a sample gas valve then the gas pump function
must be switched on.

3. Operation (general) refers to the Manual Instruction S700
