2. System Overview
The VentX Console provides irrigation/infusion and suction/aspiration capability. The irrigation
subsystem provides sterile fluid to the surgical site to suspend and dilute fragmented soft
tissues. The sterile fluid is pumped through infusion tubing using a peristaltic pump head and
motor. The Precision Fluid Management System (PFMS) displays the amount of fluid dispensed
from the sterile fluid bag. The suction subsystem is provided to aspirate the fragmented tissues.

The safe and effective use of this surgical device depends to a large
degree on factors solely under the control of the operator. It is important
Caution
that all operators of this surgical system read, understand, and follow the
operating instructions supplied with this equipment.

2.1. Unpacking and Assembling

The VentX Console is shipped in specially designed packaging. Open each box carefully
and inspect the contents. A packing list is provided with each shipment. If damage is present
immediately notify the freight carrier and Solta Medical. Retain the specially designed
packaging for use in the event that elements of the System must be returned for service.
Once removed from packaging, verify voltage corresponds to local power requirements.
Casters: The VentX Console is shipped without casters (wheels) attached. Casters must be
attached to the VentX Console prior to use. Open VentX Console box upside down and
carefully pull out the VentX Console. Find four casters, four lock washers, and one
tightening wrench. Note that two casters have a locking tab. Place a washer on a caster’s
threaded stud and screw the stud into one corner of the VentX Console base. Repeat for the
remaining casters. Use the tightening wrench to tighten each caster. Tighten until the
washer is squeezed flat. Carefully lift the VentX Console upright.
I.V. Pole: Locate the round I.V. pole housing at the top right corner of the VentX Console.
Insert the small end of the pole into the hole on the top of the pole housing. Align the small
stud near the bottom of the I.V. pole with the slotted hole of the I.V. pole housing. Guide the
pole down and insert the small end into the I.V. pole bracket at the base of the VentX
Console. Tighten pole using the Pole Position Lock.
PFMS: Remove the screw from the tip of the I.V. pole and slide the PFMS onto the top of
the I.V. pole. Align the screw hole on the PFMS and the I.V. pole and insert and tighten the
screw using the provided Allen wrench. Do not connect the PFMS Power Cord to the
labeled receptacle on the left side of the VentX Console until after the canister rack is
installed. Note: There are two versions of the PFMS.
Canister Rack with Suction Source Tubing and Suction Filter: Attach suction gauge panel.
Attach canister tray. Measure I.V. pole 19 inches up from I.V. Pole Height Adjuster and
attach filter holding bracket. Place D-clamp over the I.V. Pole onto the canister tray arm to
stabilize the canister tray. Connect suction source tubing to suction port. Attach suction
gauge tubing to suction gauge. Align the suction source tubing up the I.V. pole with suction
filer on filter holding bracket (see figure 4). Connect the silicone tube from the filter to the
vacuum port on the canister. Use the Velcro ties to secure suction source tubing and PFMS
Power Cord down the I.V. pole. Note: There are two styles of canister racks.

 To avoid electrical shock, disconnect the power from AC power

WARNING! before cleaning.
 To avoid the risk of infection
 Always use appropriate personal protective equipment when
cleaning, disinfecting, and repairing the system.
 When using a premixed disinfection solution, review the
expiration date, and ensure that it has not passed. If the date
has passed, do not use the solution.
 All patient contact parts should be wiped down with a
disinfectant prior to servicing the system.
 All listed disinfectants and cleaning methods are recommended by
Solta Medical for compatibility with product materials, not for
biologic effectiveness.
Refer to the instructions on the disinfectant label for guidance on
disinfection effectiveness and appropriate clinical uses.

Improper cleaning or disinfecting of any part of the system can cause

Notice permanent damage. For cleaning and disinfecting instructions, refer to this
section.
 Do not spill liquid on the system.
 Do not spray cleaners or disinfectants directly on system surfaces.
Spraying solution directly on the system could cause fluid to seep into
the system, damaging the system and voiding the warranty.
 Do not use strong solvents (such as thinner or benzene) or abrasive
cleaners on the system. Such solutions can damage the system
surfaces.
 Use only recommended cleaners or disinfectants on system surfaces.
Immersion-type disinfectants are not approved for use on system
surfaces.
 Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using disinfectants.

3.1. Cleaning and Disinfecting the exterior of the System

The exterior of the system and the accessories can be cleaned, disinfected and sterilized by
using the recommended cleaner or disinfectant following the guidelines of your institution.
