me. I think she is a great cook too. She is caring and very patient. She is tall and thin. She
has long blue hair and has two sisters. Her favorite music is, well, I guess she is
crossover, I mean, rock, jazz, blue, etc. Her favorite food is soup and finally, her favorite

LESSON # 2 VERB TO BE NEGATIVE FORM

DEAR SANTIAGO

Dear Santiago

Let me tell you about my stay in Germany.

Germany is not like our country Colombia. Its culture is, in many ways, different. For example,
Germans are not that flexible with the time. They are extremely punctual, different from our
country where people are a little bit more flexible…Besides, Germans are not so enthusiastic about
their reactions like Colombians. Nothing is good enough for them; when they are in a restaurant, a
common reaction is “the food is not that good, I have had better…” in Colombia it is different, we
react like “oh, what a delicious food” or something like that.

In regards to the personality of people, Germans are not as friendly as Colombians. Although they
are polite, they are not friendly at all. Instead, German people are dull, cold and extremely serious;
and you know Santi, we Colombians are not serious or dull. For Colombians everything is a joke.

Well Santi, that is what I can tell you about my stay in Germany for now. At first, the experience in
another country is shocking but it is worth it.

Your friend, Camila.
