The Service Engineering Team has received inquiries regarding machine errors generated when
certain Aladin II Cassettes are used in the ADU or Aisys machines.
An investigation into the returned samples revealed that certain Agent Cassette Boards (1011-
3170-000) are more susceptible to generate level sense error messages. The root cause of the
issue was traced to a specific manufacturer of an infrared emitter / detector chip on the Agent
Delivery Board when paired with agent level windows that contained small imperfections
(yellowed/scratched). The combination of a yellowed/scratched agent window with this specific
Agent Cassette Boards can result in “AA Liquid Sensor Failure” messages on the ADU and
“Cassette Overfill Detected” log entries in the Aisys.
Our records indicate the use of this specific manufacture of the infrared emitter / detector chip was
discontinued from use at the request of the board manufacture in July 2009.
If you encounter Aladin II Cassettes that exhibits the above described symptoms in ether the ADU
or the Aisys machine, the recommended action is to replace the Agent Cassette Board, part
number 1011-3170-000, in the Aladin II Cassette. The available stock should no longer exhibit this
issue.
