Guidelines :
For this evaluation, you will have to hold your ground and
try to convince the audience ‘’the jury’’ that your views on
the topic are indeed the most reliable ones. To prepare
yourself for this rhetorical battle you will have to:
- Do some research on your topic (for AND against)
**You do not know which side you are going to
defend. I will flip a coin and let fate decide! **
- Fill the debate worksheet (for AND against)
- Work in coordination with your teammate in order to
establish your ‘’game plan’’
- Practice with your partner in anticipation of the debate
(Play both side!)

During the debate you will have to:

- Open the debate with your opening statement (Both
members of the team will have to prepare an opening
statement)
Greet the audience + present yourself + short presentation of the problem + the side you represent

- Provide two arguments + two supporting facts

(Everyone has to present 2 arguments + supporting
facts)
Argument: This claim is one reason why you're in
favour of/against the motion.
Supporting fact: Providing explanation in the form of
quotes, statistics, personal reflections, and
observations, to name a few. (Proof)
- Rebutting Phase
Provide counter-arguments to defuse the other team’s
arguments. (Refute)
- Provide a closing argument
Remind jurors about key pieces of evidence presented
and persuade them to adopt a favorable interpretation
of your position.
Remind the jury why everyone should vote for you by referring to your 2 arguments + thank the
jury for their attention
