TRANSMITTAL INFORMATION
REVISION 1 TO SERVICE BULLETIN 73-0117
Revision 1 is issued to update paragraphs 1., PLANNING INFORMATION and 3.,
ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS.
The original was issued June 03, 2020. Revision bars in the left margin identify
changes.
1. PLANNING INFORMATION
A. Effectivity
* * * GE90-110B1 and -115B
This Service Bulletin is applicable to all GE90-100 engines.
The full authority digital engine control (FADEC) is affected by this Service
Bulletin.
B. Description
This Service Bulletin provides instructions to do a check for maintenance
messages correlated with an inbound ENG EEC C1 flight deck effect/status
message. Also, this Service Bulletin provides instructions to remove the FADEC
if fuel metering valve (FMV) and thrust lever angle (TLA) maintenance messages
are present, or if there are 12 maintenance messages found in a single channel
with the ENG EEC C1 flight deck effect.
C. Compliance
Category 2
GE recommends that you implement this Service Bulletin within 120 days of
original issuance. Once implemented, perform the accomplishment instructions if
and when an ENG EEC C1 L or ENG EEC C1 R status message is present during
normal pre-flight checks (prior to dispatch).
Impact A
This recommendation is to address a condition that may affect Flight Safety.
NOTE: A loss of thrust control (LOTC) may occur.
NOTE: This Service Bulletin can be done on wing.
This Service Bulletin is offered to improve the reliability or performance of
your GE product, or to help prevent the occurrence of the event or condition
described in this Service Bulletin. If the operator elects not to participate

in the bulletin, that decision will be taken into consideration by GE in

evaluating future product performance issues that may arise in the operator's
fleet.
D. Concurrent Requirements
None.
E. Reason
(1) Objective:
To reduce significant events.
(2) Condition:
A FADEC solder ball joint failure initiated a system effect that resulted in a LOTC event.
The LOTC event was preceded by a TLA and FMV resolver feedback faults one flight prior to
the event.
(3) Cause:
Accumulated thermal cycles of the FADEC through normal operation causes the solder ball
joints to wear out and eventually fail over time.
(4) Inspection:
A check for FMV and TLA resolver feedback faults prior to each dispatch with an ENG EEC C1
status message. If the subject fault messages are present or if more than 12 faults are
found in any FADEC channel from the previous flight leg, the FADEC is to be replaced prior
to dispatch.
(5) Substantiation:
Substantiation is by fleet experience.
F. Approval
This Service Bulletin contains no modification information that revises the
approved configuration and therefore does not require FAA or regulatory
approval.
G. Manpower
No additional man-hours are required to comply with this Service Bulletin.
H. Weight and Balance
Weight and balance are not changed.

(1) Deleted.
(2) Use the maintenance access terminal (MAT) central maintenance computer function (CMCF) shop
faults function to find the maintenance messages for each channel of the FADEC for the
inbound flight leg. Refer to the GE90-100 Boeing 777 AMM, 45-10-00, MAINTENANCE PRACTICES,
TASK 45-10-00-740-807, How to Find Shop Faults Data.
NOTE: Only the engine position that corresponds with the ENG EEC C1 L or ENG EEC C1 R status
message needs to be selected. Channel A as well as channel B shop fault data need to be
reviewed.
