Hydraulic tank (1) contains oil for the following machine systems: Steering system, hoist system,
brake system, and fan drive system. Return line filters are located inside the tank.

Piston pump (2) is a variable displacement pump. The piston pump, which is driven by the engine,
supplies oil to the fan, brake, and the hoist system. A pressure control valve on the pump senses
the load requirements of the brake circuit. The pressure control valve helps maintain pressure by
upstroking or destroking the pump.

Oil from piston pump (2) flows into combination valve (12) and is directed to front axle service
brakes (4), center axle service brakes (9), and rear axle service brake (10). Oil from piston pump (2)
is also carried into the parking brake circuit to operate parking brake assembly (11).

Main Hydraulic Oil Tank (1): Hydraulic oil reservoir used in the hoist, steering, braking and
cooling fan hydraulic systems.

Piston Pump (Fan, Brake, and Hoist) (2): Load sensing pressure compensated (LSPC)
piston pump used to provide oil flow and pressure for the operation of the braking system.

Service Brake Control Valve (3): Hydraulic control valve used to ENGAGE the service brakes
by directing hydraulic pressure to the ARC valve then to the service brakes. The control valve
also controls the release of the service brakes by relieving the brake oil pressure to the
hydraulic oil tank.

Front Axle Service Brake (4): Full wet disc service brake assemblies installed on the right and
left wheels of the front axle.

Front Service Brake Accumulator (5): One rubber diaphragm-type hydraulic accumulator
used to store hydraulic energy and maintain pressure in the front braking system for an
instantaneous response to braking requests. The accumulators can ENGAGE the service
brakes when the engine is not running. The fan, brake, and hoist pump maintain the braking
system pressure and the brake accumulator pressure for operation of the service brakes.

Front Automatic Retarder Control (ARC) Valve (6): Pump pressure from P1 charges the
front brake accumulator. Accumulator pressure then supplies the brake control valve and the
ARC valve. A resolver valve sends the higher signal pressure from either the ARC valve or the
brake control valve to shift a spool inside the ARC valve which sends pressurized oil to the front
service brakes.

Rear Service Brake Accumulators (7): Five rubber diaphragm-type hydraulic accumulator
used to store hydraulic energy and maintain pressure in the rear braking system for an
instantaneous response to braking requests. The accumulators can ENGAGE the service
brakes when the engine is not running. The fan, brake, and hoist pump maintain the braking
system pressure and the brake accumulator pressure for operation of the service brakes.

Rear Automatic Retarder Control (ARC) Valve (8): Pump pressure from P1 charges the five
rear brake accumulators. Accumulator pressure then supplies the brake control valve and the

ARC valve. A resolver valve sends the higher signal pressure from either the ARC valve or the
brake control valve to shift a spool inside the ARC valve which sends pressurized oil to the
center and rear service brakes.
Center Axle Service Brakes (9): Full wet disc service brake assemblies installed on the right
and left wheels of the center axle.

Rear Axle Service Brakes (10): Full wet disc service brake assemblies installed on the right
and left wheels of the rear axle.

Parking Brake Assembly (11): Dry caliper-and-rotor-type braking system with a brake
actuator used to RELEASE the spring applied brake pads from the rotor. The park brake stops
rotation of the center drive shaft when ENGAGED, which prevents rotation of the rear and
center axles.

Combination Valve (12): Multi-purpose hydraulic manifold containing components that control
and direct hydraulic oil used in the steering, hoist, brake, and fan drive systems.

Parking Brake Accumulator (13): Rubber diaphragm-type hydraulic accumulator used to

store hydraulic energy for RELEASING the parking brake when the engine is not running. The
parking brake accumulator is not visible in this graphic. The accumulator is located behind the
brake cooling oil tank. The fan, brake, and hoist pump maintains the braking system pressure
and the brake accumulator pressure for operation of the parking brake.

Brake Cooling Oil Tank (14): Reservoir for the hydraulic oil used in the brake cooling system.
