Traditionally, a typical university student would allocate the lion’s share of their

time to schoolwork, as they spent hours and hours hitting the book in pursuit of
impressive educational outcomes – however, this is no longer the case, given that
more and more of them are becoming increasingly dedicated to extracurricular
activities. Completely agreeing that these ventures are quite indispensable, this
essay will look at the role that they play in not only networking but also further
employment prospects.

Extracurriculars should be taken seriously as a crucial part of university culture in

that they enable the creation of relationships, most preferably among those with
the same domain and aspiration. For instance, it is not a rare occurrence for club
members to grow into long-term friends and compatible work partners, as
illustrated by world-renowned music band Queen. This is perfectly
understandable, considering those who partake in the same student society tend
to share mutual areas of interests and ambitions, thus finding it fairly easy to
empathise and collaborate with one another to obtain a collective goal. In this
light, it is safe to assume that to be involved in activities outside the classroom
setting is to be entitled to the formation of social networks and the encounter
between professional peers.

There is another reason why I believe extracurricular activities are well and truly
worthwhile: they make university attendees more employable in the eyes of their
future recruiters. While it remains true that outstanding academic achievements
are somewhat advantageous, a large number of businesses nowadays, even
Silicon Valley-based ones, have expressively shifted their attention to non-
academic ones, which exemplify candidates’ strong suits and past experiences in a
far more convincing and practical manner. As a result, it is essential for college
students to involve themselves in some sort of extracurricular activities, rather
than exclusively engage in academic work.

For the abovementioned, I agree that students would be well-advised to take on

other outside classroom enterprises while undertaking their college degree, for
they culminate in forming relationships and enhancing competitiveness on the job
market. In view of the fact that a great many people have already adopted such
an approach, I suppose that this positive change will persist in the foreseeable
future, further resulting in the diversification of extracurricular projects and
accurate analysis of students’ capabilities as well. be allocated to schoolwork, as

worthy of students’ consideration is that they make them more employable in the

attention to CVs backed up by … rather than those solely comprised of test scores
