How To Prepare

For The Kearney

Aptitude Test
Context
The Kearney Recruitment Test is a standard
consulting aptitude test you must pass to
work for Kearney. It is used as an
additional screening instrument for
applicants, comparable to the McKinsey
Problem Solving Game, the BCG Chatbot
Case.
In some workplaces, it is part of your first
round along with the interviews, while in
others, it is a screening device and an
obstacle before you can continue to the
interviews.
Context
Its content includes common features of a
consulting aptitude test, such as
quantitative, verbal, and case interview
questions. Personality traits are not
evaluated.
Why Is There An
Aptitude Test?
Such tests provide a quick and low-cost
technique to evaluate a large number of
candidates. Kearney reduces the number of
candidates who advance on to case
interviews by adding an extra phase,
reducing the expensive consultants' hours
spent interviewing applications. As a result,
consultant aptitude tests are a significant
tool for lowering the cost of hiring over
time.
Why Is There An
Aptitude Test?
Furthermore, the Kearney screening
assessment is extremely uniform. While
various questions are asked of different
applicants, the criteria that are used to
evaluate them are the same. As a result,
Kearney may compare candidate
performance over time and objective
indicators.
Format Of The
Kearney Aptitude Test
The Kearney recruitment test is intended to
assess your various abilities as a consultant
for the firm. It is divided into six parts:
Quantitative Aptitude
Logical counting questions
Statements
Verbal Ability
Understanding of logical text
Reading a passage
Data Interpretation
Reading a table of numbers
Reading a graph
Format Of The
Kearney Aptitude Test
Each segment contains a set amount of
questions. See the table below for the
number of questions, the points for each
correct response, and the point deduction
for an erroneous answer. Remember that
there is only one correct answer for each
question, and incorrect answers cost
points.

Duration
You have 60 minutes to complete the 40-
question test, which gives you only 1.5
minutes per question. One of the most
difficult obstacles in this assessment is the
limited time allotted to answer each and
every question. Given enough time, one
could readily answer all questions, but the
added tension of the ticking clock, as well
as the assessment's evaluating nature, add
to the experience.

QUANTITATIVE REASONING & MATH
These questions are designed to assess
your ability to handle quantitative data
and solve simple mathematics and
business challenges. The questions in the
Kearney Recruitment Test are either strictly
mathematical or placed in a commercial
context. Each question has five possible
answers, only one of which is correct.
Skills Evaluated
QUANTITATIVE REASONING & MATH
Example
If John saved $800 of his earnings last month,
how much did John earn last month?
1. In the last month, John spent half of his
earnings on living
2. Of his earnings last month, John paid
twice as much in clothing as he saved
Potential answers:
1. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but
statement(2) ALONE is not sufficient
2. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but
statement(1) ALONE is not sufficient

QUANTITATIVE REASONING & MATH
2. .
3. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient,
but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient
4. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient
5. Statements(1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT
sufficient
Skills Evaluated
VERBAL REASONING
Verbal Reasoning assesses your ability to
comprehend difficult information under
time constraints. To answer a single choice
question with four to five response choices,
you must read one short paragraph each
question in this way.

DATA INTERPRETATION
The third section of the Kearney Test
requires you to evaluate a data-point
table and comprehend a graph.
Table reading
you would be given a structured set of
data and asked a specific question, which
would need you to complete certain
computations and choose one of five
answers.
Skills Evaluated
DATA INTERPRETATION
Graph reading
You are supposed to calculate a certain
value from the data points for the graph.
Select the appropriate variables, as shown
in the table, and then insert them into your
basic formula to produce the desired result.
Example
On average, how much market value in Asia
would a Uranium employee create per week
in company ABC (52 weeks a year)?
Tips To Crack It
HONE YOUR BUSINESS ACUMEN
This is less relevant if you come from a
business background, business school, etc.
If you don't have a business background
and wish to answer the Kearney test's
business-related questions, you should
study up on your business expertise. You'll
also need it for the case interviews.
This comprises business-related concepts,
terminology, and cause-and-effect
linkages.
Tips To Crack It
BRUSH UP YOUR MENTAL MATH
The amount of math required is not more
difficult than what you were taught in
school, and passing the test does not
require a specific degree.
Remember that there are two steps to
every calculation: First, you must make the
correct calculations (the logic), and then
you must do quick calculations both
mentally and with pen and paper (the
calculation).
Tips To Crack It
PRACTICE TEXT ANALYSIS
As with any other aptitude exam, you must
sift through vast volumes of material, putting
you under considerable time pressure. You
must select a correct answer or statement for
text analysis. Learn three things to achieve
this successfully.
Reading comprehension: To read a
complex business text's main claims, find
the needle in the haystack and hone in on
the vital pieces. Train this skill through
reading business periodicals, research
papers, and articles.
Tips To Crack It
PRACTICE TEXT ANALYSIS
Chart, table, and data interpretation:
Practice understanding and interpreting
complex data to extract true findings
and claims. We've written a lot about
chart interpretation on this site.
Logical thinking: Discover how to
deduce proper claims from many
sources of knowledge. When learning
for this, GMAT reasoning questions are
your best buddy.
