 WHAT IS QUALITY CONTROL IN
CONSTRUCTION
Quality control in construction typically involves insuring compliance with
minimum standards of material and workmanship in order to insure the performance
of the facility according to the design.

Quality control in construction includes the standard of National Building Code of

the Philippines or basically they check the quality of materials that are needed to
build an infrastructure. Materials obtained from suppliers or work performed by
organizations are inspected. In this system they are surely no defective items allowed
anywhere in the construction process.

• MATERIAL TESTING
-This has something to do with ensuring the
quality of the materials that are going to use in
construction which will meet the national
standard, this can be the concrete, steel, asphalt,
and aggregates.

• DIMENSIONAL CONTROL
-This involved the measurements in
construction which will verify the precise and
accurate standard size not only in the material
but as well as the area and structural component
in construction.

• WELDING INSPECTION
-This is widely used in construction specifically in
joining metals, involves examining of metals to meet
the standard for integrity and strength.

• VISUAL INSPECTION
-A common quality control performed to examine
the various construction elements if there is defects
and other quality issue.

• NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
-This technique are used to examine the quality of the
materials without causing damage, which will allow the
to detect the flaws, abnormalities and defect of the
material.

• QUALITY AUDITS
-This has something to do with the construction
assessment independently which will ensure the quality
and standard based on the National Building Code of the
Philippines.

• PERFORMANCE TESTING
-This will identify or assess the functionality of the system
in construction if it is appropriately working and to meet the
criteria for the performance of the materials and systems in
construction.

• DOCUMENTATION AND RECORD-KEEPING

-This are very essential in quality control though it is not
as the physical test on the first different quality control it has
something to do with the control for the records, document
tests, certifications and compliance to documents to provide
evidence of adherence.

• DETERMINE THE EXPECTATIONS AND ACCEPNTANCE CRITERIA

The parties in the construction project involved should know the details of the
required standards and know the client expectations in the outcome of the project.

• SET UP AN INSPECTION PLAN

Inspections are means of monitoring the progress in the construction project
and assure that the processes are in quality control.

• DEVELOP A QUALITY CONTROL CHECKLIST

A checklist is a method of ensuring the role and processes in the construction
project are met in the required standard and provides as an effective communication
tool to have a quality management.

• CORRECT ERRORS AND SHORTCOMINGS

-With the use of checklist, it can identify the construction project errors
and shortcomings from the inspections made in order for it to be resolve
before the construction project is done and document it for future references.

• EXAMINE AND EVALUATE PROBLEMS WITH APPLICABLE SOLUTION

-Reviewing the construction projects procedures made can utilize the
problems encountered and analyze possible solutions for it to be used in the
future construction projects.
