NAVIGATING ICS PLATFORMS

Once registered, how do I log in?

• Your default LAN login password is: Stu@ddmmyyyy (your date of birth)
o E.g. 26 June 1997 will be Stu@26061997
• Please change this default password by following the link below:
o https://password.ukzn.ac.za
• Your username will be your studentnumber@stu.ukzn.ac.za
o E.g. 123456789@stu.ukzn.ac.za
• Your old password is the one given above.
o i.e. Stu@ddmmyyyy (your date of birth)
• Your new password must contain 8 or more characters with at least one Capital letter,
small letters and numbers and at least one special character
• YOUR PASSWORD SHOULD NOT CONTAIN ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!
o E.g. P@ssword2022
• Once you have entered all the information, click submit.

• If you are unable to reset your password, email itstudenthelp@ukzn.ac.za or call


031 260 4000 and select Option 1 during office hours (8:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday)

At UKZN we use single sign-on, this means that you can use your LAN login
to log into multiple systems.

Do not share your credentials, this is for your own use only.
How do I access Wi-Fi on Campus?

• There are Wi-Fi spots available throughout campus.


• To connect to the campus wireless you will need to login with your LAN username and
password.
• Please ensure that you have installed Global Protect prior to logging in.

How do I install and configure Global Protect?

• Step 1: Go to http://vpn2.ukzn.ac.za (A Screen below will appear)


• Step 2: Login using your UKZN LAN Login Credentials e.g. 123456789
o (Do not add @stu.ukzn.ac.za). Type your LAN Password. Click Log In.

• Step 3: The next screen will appear. To download select the correct version/platform.
Once download is complete click the installation file to install.
• Step 4: Accept all the defaults and click “Next” on all the screens that will appear.

• Step 5: When you get to the screen as seen below, click ‘Close’ and the installation is
complete.

• Step 6: The below screen will appear on the bottom right of your screen, enter the
‘Portal Address’ as seen: “vpn2.ukzn.ac.za” and click “connect”
• Step 7: You will be prompted to authenticate using our UKZN LAN Credentials. Enter
your UKZN LAN username and password and select ‘Sign In”

• If the screen in step 6 did not appear automatically or it disappeared after installation
was completed, find the same screen as displayed below.
• Step 6 Option 2: On the bottom right of your screen, select the ‘show hidden icon’
button and click on “GlobalProtect” icon as displayed below.

• VPN Services only provide secure connection for students


• You can only access all sites hosted by ukzn.ac.za domain except for Kaltura.
• To access a video in Kaltura you need to log off from VPN
• Kaltura are video lectures imbedded in Moodle
How do I access my UKZN email?

• You can read your email from anywhere using the web interface provided you have
internet access.
o Go to: https://login.microsoftonline.com
• Enter your email address and click next

• Enter your password and click Sign in

• Select the outlook icon to access your emails.


How do I check my results, fee statements and update my personal information?

• Go to https://sc.ukzn.ac.za/
• Enter your student number and press process
• Enter your password and click Login
• Click on the relevant tab

How do I update my details for data collection?

• Go to https://locateme.ukzn.ac.za
• Enter your LAN login details and click Login
• Once you have logged in, you may update your details accordingly.
How do I access my learning material?

• Moodle is the Universities official Learning Management System (LMS)


• At UKZN Moodle is referred to as Learn2022 and is accessible here:
o https://learn2022.ukzn.ac.za/
• On the top right, enter your username and password and click login

• After you have successfully logged in, click “My Courses”


• Once you select your module, you can access various resources and activities that
have been uploaded by your lecturer.

• Scroll through the module to view various activities and resources.

How do I get the Moodle (Learn2022) Mobile app?

You will be able to download it directly from the Google Play or App store.
