COUNCILS
IN INDIA
INCEPTION OF EXPORT COUNCILS
The first export promotion council, the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council
(TEXPROCIL), was established in 1954. Since then, several other councils have been
formed to cater to different sectors and industries.
Presently, there are fourteen Export Promotion Councils under the administrative
control of the Department of Commerce.
