Lesson Plan in Mathematics 2

Date: Duration: 50 minutes

Time:

I. OBJECTIVES:
Knowledge: Identify strategies for mental division
Skill: Mentally divide numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10
Attitude: Show enthusiasm for solving real-life problems using mental division.
Value: Demonstrate patience and persistence when tackling division challenges.
II. CONTENT: Dividing Number Mentally by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 (Multiplication Table of 2, 3, 4, 5
and 10) and Illustrating that Multiplication and Division are Inverse Operations
III. LEARNING RESOURCES/MATERIALS:
 Math 2 MELCS
 K-12 Curriculum Guide
 Math 2 Q3 Module
 pictures, charts, flashcards
IV. PROCEDURE:
A. Introductory Activity
- Opening Prayer
- Checking of Attendance
- Checking/Submission of Assignment
- Presentation of Classroom Rules
- Review of Previous Lesson
1. Activity (5 minutes)
- Group Activity: Using Subtraction Flash Cards through race. Each group
must select one representative. Whoever answers first and correctly can
take one step until they reached the finish line.
2. Analysis (5 minutes)
- Group Activity: Each group will have one activity sheet.
Direction: Find the multiplication sentence that will match the division
sentence. Match the letter of the correct answer from column a to
column b.
1. 21 ÷ 3 a. 7 x 3
2. 24 ÷ 4 b. 5 x 4
3. 18 ÷ 2 c. 10 x 10
4. 20 ÷ 5 d. 6 x 4
5. 100 ÷ 10 e. 9 x 2
3. Abstraction: (20 minutes)
- Paste the illustration on the board.

Ding harvested 30 watermelons from their backyard. If he will be

going to put it inside the 5 baskets, how many watermelons will be
placed in each basket? How many watermelons are there in all? How
many baskets are there? What is the division sentence for this problem?
How will you solve this problem mentally?
Let the pupils count the watermelons by 5s. Then ask, how many
5s are there? Relate the counting by 5s into repeated subtraction.
Show the number sentence: 30 ÷ 5 = 6
Present: 30

How many times did we subtract 5 and end up with 0? (6 times)

What do you think is the multiplication sentence for this? (6 x 5 =
30)
Say: To do mental division, you may use repeated subtraction.
Subtract the dividend by the divisor many times until you reach zero. But
memorizing the multiplication table of 5 will be of great help in mental
division.
4. Application: (5 minutes)
- Game-“Kinesthetic Math”
The teacher will show flashcards of basic division facts and pupils
will act out the answer through body number coding.
Digit Movement
1 Clap one time
2 Hand salute
3 Hands on shoulders
4 Right hand on the head
5 Do the “Woah”
6 Hands on the knees
7 Arms forward
8 Hands on waist
9 Do peace sign
10 Raise your two arms
Flashcards:
a. 2 ÷ 2
b. 6 ÷ 3
c. 12 ÷ 4
d. 20 ÷ 5
e. 50 ÷ 10
f. 30 ÷ 5
g. 28 ÷ 4
h. 24 ÷ 3
i. 18 ÷ 2
j. 100 ÷ 10
V. Assessment/Evaluation: (10 minutes)
Divide mentally (walay gamit og lapis ug papel sa pagsulbad).

1. 18 ÷ 2 = _____
2. 12 ÷ 3 = _____
3. 24 ÷ 4 = _____
4. 25 ÷ 5 = _____
