Alright! Class, do you still
remember our previous lesson? Yes, Sir!
What was our previous lesson? Our lesson last meeting was all
about the effects of earthquake.

Good job, class!

I have here some pictures of the

effects of an earthquake. What
you’re going to do is that you will
identify what kind of effects of
earthquake it is. Choose your
answer from the box.
First, we have…

Alright! Then, let’s have a game.

I have prepared something here
wherein you’re going to guess
what’s in the pictures. Let’s play
4 pics one word.

(The teacher will present the

pictures and let the learners
guess what these are.)

For our first picture puzzle, we

have…

Who wants to answer? Me, Sir.

The answer is lava.

Perfect! This is a lava.

How about the second puzzle?

Sir, the answer is magma.

Very good!
How about this next picture?
The answer is volcano, Sir.

Good job!

How about this next picture?

The answer is volcanic eruption,

Sir.

Excellent! And for the last

picture, what is this?

The answer is volcanic ashes, Sir.

Very good! Kindly, give

yourselves an ang galing galing
clap.
B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation

The game we played is related

and has something to do
particularly with what we will
discuss today.

Does anyone of you have any

idea on what are we going to
discuss today? About volcano, Sir.

Hmm, almost there but still

needs refining of idea. (The learners will raise their
Another, yes, … hands.)

(The teacher will call somebody About volcanic eruption, Sir.

to answer.)

Well said! That’s our topic for

today. But to be more specific,
our topic is all about The Effects
of Volcanic Eruptions.

2. Discussion
Are you familiar with volcanic
eruption, class? Yes, Sir! We are familiar with it.

How do you think this natural

phenomenon like volcanic
eruptions affect the Philippines
or affect us? Does it bring any
changes on the earth’s surface
or does it affect the lives of
many organisms here on earth?
We will answer all these
questions as we go along our
discussion on volcanic eruptions.

Before we proceed to the effects

of volcanic eruptions, let’s define
first what volcano is.

Everybody, please read the

definition of a volcano.

Volcano is an opening in the

Earth’s crust. Molten rocks,
ashes, and gaseous materials
are forced out through its
opening.
The opening of a volcano is called

(The teacher will explain it.)

Second, we have lava flows.

Who wants to read?
(The teacher will call somebody
to read.)
Lava flows destroy plants in its
path and are streams of molten
rock that pour or ooze from an
erupting vent.

(The teacher will explain it.)

Next, volcanic eruptions can

influence climate and global
temperature.

(The teacher will explain it.)

Then, we have lahar flow buried
houses and other structures.

(The teacher will explain it.)

Another effect is plateau.

Anyone who would like to read?

(The teacher will call somebody

to read.)
A land area having relatively level
surface raised above adjoining
land on at least one side formed
after volcanic eruptions.

(The teacher will explain it.)

Finally, the enrichment of the

soil is the most beneficial effect
used by people for planting their
crops after volcanic eruptions.

(The teacher will explain it.)

Did you understand class? Yes, Sir!

Since you have understood the

lesson class, let’s have a brief
exercise.

3. Guided Practice

(The teacher will explain the

directions of the exercise to the
class. He will call some learners
to answer on the board.) (The learners will answer the
given exercise.)
Directions: Identify what is being
described in the following
statements. Choose the letter of
your answer and write it before
the number.

a. Volcano
b. Crater
c. Lava
d. Volcanic ashes
e. Plateau
1. A land area having
relatively level surface raised

magma that flows out on the
surface.
4. It is an opening in the
Earth’s crust. Molten rocks,
ashes, and gaseous materials
are forced out through its
opening.
5. It causes potential
hazards to plants and people.

5. Application

(The teacher will divide the class

into four groups. Each group will
write a word or group of words
that can be associated with the
word VOLCANO. Afterwards,
they will present it to the class.
The rubrics will be explained to
them as well.)

A. Directions: Write True if the statement is correct and False if not. Do this on
your notebook.
1. When lava just flows out of the crater and gaps along the sides of
the volcano, it is an explosive eruption.
2. The opening of a volcano is called the crater.

3. When magma flows on the surface, it is called lava.

4. An earthquake may happen after a volcanic eruption.
5. Lava flows can destroy plants in its path.
B. Directions: Unscramble the letters to spell out what is described or defined
in each number.
6. LVAA- molten materials flow out to the surface.
7. NLOVAOC- formed by the rising rocks beneath the surface.
8. MGAMA- a molten rocks that rise from below the ground.
9. TRCARTE- the top opening of the volcano.
10. CINLOVAN ETNITPROU- it is the release of magma from the crater.
V. Assignment

Directions: Choose one effect of volcanic eruptions. Cut-out or print a

picture of it, then, paste it on a coupon bond. Write 3 to 5 sentences
about the chosen effect of volcanic eruptions.
