Problem Statement
The significance of water infrastructure in supporting life and industry is immense.
Nonetheless, it often experiences leaks, which can result in massive water loss and
environmental destruction as well as economic decline. Most traditional leak detection
methods are costly, time-consuming and have a narrow scope that makes them unsuitable for
quickly detecting and dealing with leaks that occur in extensive networks of water distribution.
In response to this challenge, there is an urgent need for innovative method which uses
artificial intelligence (AI) technology and satellite imaging system to anticipate any leakage in
the water infrastructure network through its monitoring. The purpose is to create ai-supported
system that upon scrutinizing satellite images can accurately reveal possible leakage points,
irregularities, or transformations in the hydrological network rapidly. Effectively monitor
extensive water distribution networks, resulting in delayed leak identification and response.
This inefficiency poses a critical challenge in maintaining the integrity and sustainability of
water systems , necessitating the development of innovative solutions that leverage artificial
intelligence (ai)technology and satellite imaging to enhance the speed and accuracy of leak
detection processes.
Existing System
The existing system is a collaboration between FIDO Tech and United Utilities. It uses
breakthrough technology to prioritize larger leaks for repair, combating non-revenue water.
Simultaneously, advanced technologies are evaluated in California to minimize water loss and
associated energy waste.

FIDO’s AI-based system: Achieves 92% accuracy, filtering out non-leak noises and surpassing
human capabilities.
Utilization of CCAM, satellite imagery, and flow-sensitive pressure reducing valve systems: These
are used in California networks.
Goal: Minimize water loss and energy waste, benefiting utilities and ratepayers globally and
locally.
CEO Victoria Edwards: Emphasizes resource optimization, global adoption, and tangible results
from collaboration with United Utilities.
Highlight: Addressing both global and local challenges of water and energy loss through innovative
technology and collaborative efforts.

Proposed Solution
To Create an Ai-based water leak detection system in water infrastructure with satellite imagery
and with advanced intimation system with Iot powered monitoring and data collecting system to
prevent from the disaster.
AI-based Leak Detection

Our proposed answer contains an AI model which has been trained on COCO dataset that is a large-scale dataset for
images and annotations to be used in object detection and segmentation tasks. By leveraging AI’s capabilities, our
system can easily detect and locate any leakage within the water infrastructure networks even where traditional means
fail.

Satellite Imagery
In our proposal, satellite imagery is a critical component as it enables monitoring of extensive water distribution networks
from high altitude. This helps to identify leakages across large areas including those that would not be seen on the ground
level. Our system uses this technology to pinpoint possible leaks quickly, giving maintenance teams accurate on where to
concentrate their efforts data .

Advanced Intimation System

Additionally, we propose an advanced intimation system that can offer real-time alerts whenever there is a leakage with
iot powered monitoring system which helps in tracking data for the area and particular leakage spots
