MATERIALS:

BAMBOO

- Bamboo has been used in construction for centuries, with its origins dating back to
ancient civilizations. From simple huts to intricate temples, the history of bamboo
architecture is rich and diverse.
NIPA
- commonly known as the nipa palm or mangrove palm
- have characteristics similar to coconut tree leaves especially the palms but grows on low-
level inland mangroves.

- Commonly seen in the hinterland communities in Bohol as well as in the lowland


communities are nipa huts locally known as payag or bahaykubo.

COGON GRASS
- Cogon grass (Imperata cylindrica) is a perennial grass species found in temperate and
tropical regions of the Old World.
- also known as Japanese blood grass, blady grass, and alang-alang.
RATTAN
- is a tough, adaptable vining or climbing plant that thrives in tropical jungle settings.
- Rattan is lightweight yet remarkably strong. Its high strength-to-weight ratio
- very durable so it can be cut, sanded, and finished without having to worry about
damaging it beyond repair.
GUIJO TREE

-is a tree species found in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, and the
Philippines

-Guijo is valued for its hardwood with an aesthetically pleasing grain however it is not long
lasting when exposed to severe weather or ground contact

YAKAL TREE

-also known as Shorea astylosa, a remarkable hardwood species native to southeast Asia,
particularly in the Philippines

- known for producing some of the hardest and most durable hardwoods in the world.
