SUGGESTED SOLUTION FOR EXERCISE 3:

1/ Making approval request for departing aircraft:

a) Aproval request for RAC121:

HCM: PNH, HCM POPET approval request on RAC121

PNH: HCM, PHN go ahead.
HCM: RAC121 provisional estimate POPET 03:23, request FL 180
PNH: FL180 is approved for RAC121 (*)
HCM: FL180 is approved for RAC121, Call you back for transfer.
PNH: JL
HCM: TG

(*) In case unable to approve FL180, Phnompenh will suggest other alternatives
PNH: FL180 is not available for RAC121 due traffic. Alternative level is 240
or 280.

b) Approval request for HVN853 at PNH (Phraseologise similar to RAC121)

c) Provisional time = ETD + EET

2/ Separation between HVN853 and RAC121

𝑅𝐶 𝑋
Apply the formula: =
𝐺𝑆𝑠 𝑡𝑐 + 5

19000
𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑐 = = 10 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠
2000 𝑓𝑡/𝑚𝑖𝑛

450 −270 𝑋
=  X = 10;  𝑇2 = 𝑇1 + 𝑋 + 5
270 10+5

Departure time of HVN853 = (ATD of RAC121) + X + 5 = 03:07 + 10 +5 = 03:22

Restriction for HVN853:

- Depart at 03:22 or later (or depart 15 minutes after RAC121)

- Maintian ROC 2000 ft/m or greater until passing FL190 (or, climb to cross
FL190 within 10 minutes after departure)

Strip markings (Box 8): T  03:22+ ; ROC 2000 ft/m / FL190

3/ Separation between PIC and HVN929: Apply step descent

Phraseologies:

- PIC793 descend to FL……..at rate of descent 2000 ft/m or greater.

- Hvn929 descend to FL……..at rate of descent 2000 ft/m or less (maintain at
least 1000ft above PIC793)

4/ Clear THA645 from FL340 to FL350 after passing TSN
