Types of Reproduction
1- Oviparity:- lay fertilized eggs. e.g. Grasshoppers, butterflies
2- Viviparity:- eggs hatch within female insect and young
ones are laid. e.g. Aphids
3- Parthenogenesis:- lay unfertilized eggs. e.g. Whiteflies,
Thrips
4- Paedogenesis:- Immature stages (larvae/pupae) start
reproducing parthenogenetically. e.g. Cecidomyids & Midges
5- Polyembryony:- When two or more larvae are produced
from single egg. e.g. Parasitic wasps
6- Hermaphroditism:- Individual having both male &
female reproductive organs. Phorid flies, Scale insect
