ENGLISH NOTES

Lesson 1 - Multimedia
Multimedia
- is a broad term for containing multiple media formats. Whatever text, audio, still
images, animation, video and interactivity are combined.

Website
- is a collection of web pages and related content that is identified by a common
domain name and published on at least one server.

Types of Multimedia
1. News Flash
- a single term of important news that is aired completely and often interprets
other programs.
2. Weather Report
- is usually a part of an entire news program that tells and foretells weather
conditions on a specific area.
3. Internet-Based Program
- a program that is imformative and can be accessed through the website.
4. Movie Trailer
- a short clip from a film.
5. Documentary
- a researched-based reporting that deals with a specific topic and format.

Lesson 2 - Information Source


Information Source
- a database of facts and or anything that might inform a person about any given
topic. It can be in the form of observation. people speeches, source documents,
pictures, organizations and etc.

Type of Information Sources


1. Books
- cover usually any topic, fact or fiction
2. Encyclopedia
- collection of short, factual entries often written by different contributions who
are knowledgeable about the topic.
3. Journals
- collection of articles usually written by scholars in an academic or professional
field
4. Database
- contains citations of articles in magazines, journals and newspapers. They may
also contain citations to podcast blogs, videos and other media types.
5. Magazines
- collection of articles and images about diverse topics of popular interests and
current events.
6. Newspapers
- collection of articles about current events usually published daily.
7. Library Catalog
- an organized and searchable collection of records of every item in a library and
can be found on the library/home page.
8. Internet
- allows you to access most types of information on the internet through a
browser.

Lesson 3 - Summarizing
Summarizing
- short account of the central ideas of a text

Lesson 4 - Technical Report


Technical Report
- a document that describes the process or progress.

Types of Reports
Article Report
Laboratory Report
Information Report
Research Report
Accomplishment Report

Laboratory Report
- written to communicate laboratory works and observations

Parts of a Laboratory Report


1. Abstract
- shows the summary of the entire experiment.
2. Introduction
- presents the objectives and importance of the experiment.
3. Procedure
- presents the step-by-step method.
4. Results and Discussions
- presents the discussion of the experiment as the results which are composed of
tables and figures.
5. Conclusion
- summarizes the results of the experiment.
6. Appendices
- composed of raw data, calculations, graph, figures and pictures that are not
included to the report itself.
7. References
- includes the sources and references used in conducting the experiment.
