presentation about Banana Vaccine we are looking forward on your

The purpose of this presentation is to know
more about banana vaccine and new
ideas to clarify or realize what actually is
banana vaccine, and what is the purpose
of it.This encourage you to train yourself to
think critically.
THE ORIGIN OF BANANA VACCINE
Bananas were once explored for
another biotech use: creating edible
vaccines against various human
diseases. Charles Arntzen, a plant
biotechnologist at Arizona State
University, had in mind producing
bananas engineered to make a
protein from the bacterium that
causes cholera.
 He said that current vaccines are prone to losing
their effectiveness, as they require refrigeration
form the point of manufacture to the point of use.
Any break in this cold chain ensures the
destruction of the vaccine. Once the technology of
vaccinated fruit crops is perfected, protection
against infectious diseases will be obtained simply
by eating a fruit like a banana.
 WHAT IS BANANA VACCINE?
DEFINITION

Banana vaccines are made through a process which

begins with an altered form of a virus being injected
into a banana plant. The genetic material of the virus
then becomes a significant and permanent part of
the plant cells (Goldstein, 2007)
 ADVANTAGES OF BANANA VACCINE
Vaccines within bananas can potentially prevent people from many
serious illnesses such as Hepatitis B and Diarrhoea (Banajata, 2010).
Several say banana vaccines are beneficial, as they are cheap and
save the lives of many; but plenty others say it is neither safe nor
efficient.

DISADVANTAGES OF BANANA VACCINE

There are some drawbacks of banana using as an edible vaccine
that it quickly spoils after ripening and the amount of protein contain
very smaller
TRIVIAS ABOUT BANANA VACCINE
People may soon be getting vaccinated for diseases like hepatitis B
and cholera by simply taking a bite of banana. Researchers have
successfully engineered bananas, potatoes, lettuce, carrots and
tobacco to produce vaccines, but they say bananas are the ideal
production and delivery vehicle. When an altered form of a virus is
injected into a banana sapling, the virus' genetic material quickly
becomes a permanent part of the plant's cells. As the plant grows, its
cells produce the virus proteins but not the infectious part of the virus.
When people eat a bite of a genetically engineered banana, which is
full of virus proteins, their Immune systems build up antibodies to fight
the disease just like a traditional vaccine.
 WHAT DISEASES WILL THE
BANANA VACCINE CAN CURE
Hepatitis B is a disease which has caused major loss of life over the
years. The treatment for the disease is very expensive and cure rate
is less. Due to its high cost developing or underdeveloped countries
are far out of reach from treatment to hepatitis B. There are
vaccines produced against this disease but its cost has limited the
use by the masses. In the recent years the plant based vaccines
called edible vaccines which are cheap compared to the traditional
vaccines have been current area of research.

MANY; BUT PLENTY OTHERS SAY IT IS NEITHER SAFE NOR
EFFICIENT.
