While local governments often suspend classes due to natural disasters, the Department of Education believes learning should continue and instead implements "blended" activities where students complete tasks and activities from home. Within one year in the Davao Region there were almost 40 class suspensions due to weather. The assistant regional director commented that classes are physically suspended but education continues through blended learning, though some criticize this approach. Blended education is seen as the best way to avoid problems from suspending classes, as students need to continue learning for their own and the country's future.

When disaster strikes and the weather falls, class
suspension is the solution of local governments. However, in the eyes of the Department of Education (DepEd) learning comes first, making them resort to blended activities in these situations, bringing distraught to students and families.
In the Philippines natural disasters comes once in a
while. But, within this year almost 40 class suspension were recorded in the Davao Region alone. Yet, in these worrying events, tasks and activities in school are still being given to students from their teachers.
The assistant regional director Rebonfamil R.
Baguio stated that “If the weather is bad then, it is considered physically suspended but educationally blended”. Even though it’s true not all journalist agree that its the best way to apply education.
Though there are truly negative side effects on
keeping classes suspended and not doing anything about it. Relying on blended education is the best way to avoid problems such as lack of time for learning. Students should face reality not just for their future, but also for the future of the country.
