Bangladesh, a small and beautiful country in South Asia, holds a significant place in the hearts of its

people. Our journey to independence was marked by immense sacrifice. In 1971, after a prolonged
war, we broke free from Pakistan’s grasp. The bravery of millions of freedom fighters paved the way
for our nation. On Victory Day, December 16, the Pakistani army surrendered, and we celebrated our
newfound freedom. Another pivotal date is March 26, when Ziaur Rahman declared our
independence from Chittagong. Our unwavering commitment to language rights led to the
establishment of International Mother Language Day on February 21, celebrated by more than 180
countries. Bangladesh boasts natural beauty, from the world’s longest sea beach in Cox’s Bazar to the
vast Sundarbans mangrove forest, home to the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. We are a resilient nation,
proud of our heritage and hopeful for the future 12.
