SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary

This study was conducted to provide a comprehensive understanding of

how parental factors influence children's oral health, with the ultimate

goal of informing targeted interventions and educational strategies to

improve pediatric oral health outcomes.

Specifically, the study sought to answer the following questions:

1.) To determine the parental role and its impact on children’s oral

health,

2.) To determine the knowledge of parents on Child’s Oral Care.

3.) To determine the attitude of parents on Child’s Oral Care.

4.) To determine the practices of parents on Child’s Oral Care.

5.) To associate the parents, attitude and practices on oral health

care and dental problems among their children, if there is any.

From the gathered data through the survey conducted, the summary

of the findings are as follow:

1. The parents are aware of the proper way of tooth

brushing and how it should be done correctly. They are

also aware that the foods that their child/children

take can affect the oral cavity of their kids.

2. Some parents already apply proper attitudes on oral

hygiene towards their child. They believe that it is

very important to take their Child to their dentist for

their check-up. They are also open for more learning

that revolve on oral health so that they can teach

their child/ children what is important for their oral

hygiene. The parents really value the oral health of

their Child/ Children.

3. Most parents are considered to be hands on towards the

oral hygiene of their children. They make sure that

their children brush their mouth after they eat and

before they sleep. They also manage the amount of

sweets that their children partake. Most of the times

they tend to help their kids whenever they brush their

teeth.

4. Most of the respondents strongly agree that the

knowledge, practice, and attitudes on their oral care

can impact on the Child’s oral hygiene.

Conclusions

Based on the following findings, it has been concluded that:

1.Parents, in general, are highly knowledgeable of their responsibility on

their child’s oral care. Regardless of their age, their gender and their

years as parents, they showed proper and positive attitudes towards proper

oral care.

2. Parents are highly committed in performing the correct practices for

their child’s Oral Care.

3. The correlation between parents' attitudes and practices regarding oral

health care significantly impacts the dental well-being of their children.

Consistent reinforcement of good oral hygiene habits and regular dental

check-ups by parents can substantially reduce the occurrence of dental

problems among their children, fostering a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusions, the following measures are

recommended:

1.Students in Dentistry and the study on parental knowledge about oral care

can use this study to shed some light on the content on Oral Care.

2. The findings of this study may act as reference for future researchers

who intend to further their research in this area. They may also use the

parents, particularly the respondents, as corpus. The researchers recommend

the utilization of contextual or any in-depth analyses.

3. Parents and parents-to-be can use this study to be educated about the

importance of oral hygiene and its impact on their children's overall

health. This can be done through workshops, pamphlets, or online resources

provided by dental professionals.

4. The Department of Health should make special attention to Oral Care as

early as it is. This attention should focus on giving children and parents

the right to know the proper practice of Oral Care through symposiums on

towns or barangays most especially to the far-flung areas. This helps them

to be aware of correct practices and attitudes about such.
