• founded in 1996
• provides hardware and software for Internet
connectivity
• in 1997 to create the RouterOS software system.
• In 2002 they decided to make own hardware, and the

What is RouterOS
• The Operating system of RouterBOARD
• Can be also installed on a PC.
• RouterOS is an operating system that will make your device
- Dedicated Router .
- User manager .
- Bandwidth controller .
- Packet filter.

First Time Access
• Plug in Mikrotik router to the power source
• Connect ethernet cable to any port except port1
• If router have one ethernet port use this port
Access Mikrotik Router
• There are various ways how to connect to mikroTik Router
1. Accessing Command Line Interface (CLI) via (telnet , ssh, serial
cable)
2. Accessing Web based GUI (WebFig)
3. Using the Winbox configuration utility
( Download winbox from mikrotik website)
WinBox
• Small utility that allows administration of MikroTik RouterOS using a
fast and simple GUI.
• To connect to the Router , enter IP or Mac address of the router.
MikroTik Default configuration
• IP address 192.168.88.1/24
• Username is <admin> with <blank password>
• Most models have the ether1 configured as WAN and other ports
configured as LAN
WebFig and CLI
• To access the Router via Web brows the router ip address.
• To access the router via CLI , enter the IP address from putty

• Observe the title bar when you connect using IP address
• Observe the title bar when you connect using mac address
Neighbor Discovery Protocol
• You can see all mikrotik router in your neighbor.
• You can save the managed router to access it essay .
• There are some options in winbox
