1. Ati-Atihan Festival – which means “make-believe Atis”.
It consists of a tribal dance parade with drum music,
costumes and indigenous accessories to honor the Santo Niňo or the Holy
Chils Jesus. It is accompanied by indigenous musical instruments that make
the festival more attractive. “Hala Bira!” and “Viva Sto. Niňo” is the shouted
associated with Ati-Atihan Festival.

2. Sinulog Festival – Sinulog came from the word “sulog” which means “like
water current movement” that describes the forward and backward of the
sinulog dance. Different group of dancers dressed in colourful attire are
accompanied by rhythmic music of the drums, percussion, trumpets, and
native gongs. People dance gracefully to the rhythm of drums, trumpets, and
gongs.

3. Sublian Festival – It is a worship dance performance in homage to the Holy


Cross referred to in the vernacular as “Mahal na Poong Sabta Cruz”. Sublian
festival features street dancing, harana (singing of Filipino courtship songs),
indigenous Filipino games, and Lupakan (sharing of “Nilupak” a delicacy made
from cassava, sweet potato or banana). It performed with the accompaniment
of kalatong and tugtugan (percussion instrument).

4. Moriones Festival – this festival is a re-enactment of the story of Saint


Longius. The Moriones scare children away and court the ladies by singing and
dancing for them. Most of their music is fast in tempo that encourage body
movements. They use drums and other percussion instruments to form music
that suits the festival.

5. Kadayawan Festival – is held in Davao every third week of August in


celebration of thanksgiving for good harvest with parade floats of fresh fruits,
flowers, and street dancing with colourful costumes, and accessories. It is
enriching that explores the past, present, and future of Davaoeňoes,
Mindanaoans, and Filipinos. Its sights and sounds are unparalled.

6. Ibalong Festival – is held in Bicol Region, aims to express friendliness,


enthusiasm and goodwill to all people. In this festival, the people parade in the
streets wearing masks and costumes like the heroes and villains of the epic.
