INTRODUCTION OF THE STUDY

In this research, I am going to discuss the challenges that people are facing in Kapiri
Mposhi central due to lack of jobs especially the youths who have been to school and
those that have not been to school. The researcher is also going to discuss the
possible solutions to those challenges that are going to be discussed below.
AIM OF THE STUDY

The aim of this project is to investigate the challenges that young people of Kapiri
Mposhi are facing due to lack of jobs as well as the possible solutions to the
challenges.
DEDICATION

I Mervious Kasama wish to dedicate this project to my family members who had
drawn total support during the time I was doing my research.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Firstly, I would love to thank my aunt who made me go to school even in time I
would not feel like going; secondly I want to thank my cousin Mr. Noah Mamfunda
who has been very kind to me and lastly I wish to encourage my siblings not to give

BACKGROUND OF THE RESEARCH

In recent 20 years, there were not enough buildings in Kapiri Mposhi District. Only a
foreigner owned a small shop called ‘Kasido’ along the railway line. This person used
to sell tea at the station; whenever the train arrived he would sell his products to the
people that were coming on a train and even the residents of Kapiri Mposhi District
were among the buyers of tea. As time went on, the man was nicknamed ‘cup of tea’
because he sold tea to the people. From there he expanded his business and
eventually stopped selling tea on trains. He became a great person who owned a
number of shops in Kapiri Mposhi District and later he employed other people who
started working from his shops. This time around the man is called ‘Cab Dee,’ he is
now believed to be a great contributor on the economic development of Kapiri
Mposhi District with the highest number of buildings in which most residents are
working from as at now. Although it may be so, a lot is needed to implement so that
the young people who have acquired their academic papers can benefit by getting
employment and even those who have not in the acquisition of any academic papers
can actually benefit if productive infrastructures such as food processing, seed
companies, and detergent industries are constructed. It is believed to say that in
Kapiri Mposhi there are few buildings to cater for all. It only has Shoprite, Choppies,
CHATEPA, and Shopping Mall in which most young people in Kapiri Mposhi are
depending on.
LOCATION OF THE STUDY

This research was done in Kapiri Mposhi town centre which is 1 kilometer away from
The Great North Road, 2 kilometers away from home and 1 kilometer away from
Ndeke Compound.
