Pie Charts

FORMULA – COMPARISON

There are some [reasons/factors] in which the discrepancy/difference between […] and […] is
negligible / insignificant. [A] account for the highest percentage of/for […], with around x%

u% and v%, respectively.

In contrast, other factors/reasons see significant discrepancies/differences between […] and

The pie charts show the main reasons for which films are chosen by gender.

It is clear that both men and women choose a film due largely to its story and cast. In contrast,
cost is quite irrelevent when it comes to their choices of films.

There are some factors in which the difference between men and women is negligible. Story
accounts for the highest percentage for two genders, with around 30% each. Similarly, actors
constitute significant proportions for both male and female viewers, at 23% and 28%,
respectively.

In contrast, other factors see great discrepancies between two genders. While special effects
and soundtrack represent around 20% for men, these factors only amount to under 10% for
women. Likewise, genre constitutes 20% for men, but it makes up just 10% for women. Cost
takes up the lowest portion for both genders, at only 6%.

SAMPLE 2

The pie chart illustrate the figures for participants and viewers of six popular sports.

It is clear that rugby is the most popular sport for both players and audience. In contrast, soccer
has the fewest participants and viewers.

There are some sports in which the discrepancy between participation and viewership is
considerable. Rugby accounts for the highest percentage of both participants and viewers, at
30% for the former and a hefty 50% for the latter. While soccer represents 7% of players, this
sport only amounts to 3% of audience. Likewise, other sports constitute 15% in terms of
participation, but they make up just 2% of viewers, the lowest figure recorded.

On the other hand, the other sports see insignificant differences between participation and
viewership. Cricket and netball are the second most popular sports in terms of both figures, at
around 20% each. Basketball is also similarly common among players and viewers, with around
6 to 8%.

FORMULA – CHANGES OVER TIME
