I. OBJECTIVES
Content Standard : The learner demonstrates understanding in the interpretation of
kitchen/shop layout.
Performance Standard : The learner independently interprets kitchen/shop layout based on given
blueprints.
Learning : LO 1. Read and interpret kitchen plans.
Competencies
Objectives : Read and interpret architectural symbols, and layout according to
specifications in the blueprint.
Sub-task : To be able read and interpret the parts and equipment’s’ found in the
kitchen via kitchen symbols and floorplans with 85% proficiency.

II. CONTENTS
Topic : LESSON 3: KITCHEN FLOORPLANS AND SYMBOLS
Concept : “Symbols implies a thousand words, learn to figure it out””

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activity
a. Vocabulary
b. Motivation
The teacher will show them an abstract painting. The teacher will then ask three to five
students to say or formulate something out from the picture.
c. Presentation of the Lesson
The teacher will present the lesson for the day.
B. Activity
 The class will be divided into five, each and every group will be provided with an illustration
board and chalk.
 The activity will require the students to draw the symbol and floorplan being questioned and
they only have 20 seconds per question.
 All group members should cooperate, the activity is like a message relay style, wherein they
will be lined-up, people in front will answer first and afterwards will proceed at the back to
give chance to the other members.
 The teacher will prepare fifteen (15) questions for this particular activity.

C. Analysis
Why is it important for us to be able to read and interpret symbols and floorplans? What
is it for us?
D. Abstraction
The teacher will conduct a generalization of lesson for the day.
E. Application
As a student, how will you apply what you learned from todays’ lesson?

V. EVALUATION
On a ¼ sheet of paper, the students will answer some of the questions from SELF-CHECK 1.1 on
p. 59-60.

VI. ASSIGNMENT
Look for the various KITCHEN layout: its picture and description. Place it on your TLE
notebook.
