II. Session Outline
Session Title: " Helping Individuals in Servitude "
Session At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
Objectives: a) understand servitude and its effect on individual’s mental
health and physical security.
b) create a pledge of commitment in combatting servitude.
c) suggest ways on how to help individuals suffering
servitude through the government agencies in charge of
public health and order.
Key Concepts:  Servitude, the state of being under the control of someone
else and of having no freedom; the condition of a slave. It
implies absolute subjection to another person who owns
and completely controls one.
 A lack of legal protection, social isolation, and a lack of
personal autonomy within the home creates a high risk
for slavery.
 Negative effects on Mental health and physical security
are the main problems of the individual’s experiencing
servitude.
 There are government agencies that promotes public
health and order such as but not limited to: Philippines
National Police, National Bureau of Investigation,
Department of Health, Department of Social Work and
Development. These agencies can help individuals who
are in the state of servitude.
III. Teaching Strategies

A. Introduction 10 mins Activity: Visualizing Servitude
and Warm-Up Materials: Slide decks, Smart TV/Projector, Laptop

Flash photos that describes servitude. Let the


students describe the photos and have them cite
how the individuals in the photos experience
servitude and.
Engage the student in a brief discussion about the
root cause of servitude as reflected in the photos.

Activity: Brainstorming
 Group the students into 5.
 Let the students think of the effects of
servitude to those individuals experiencing it.
Let them write it on a strip of manila paper.
Each group will post their answer on the
board and allow them to express their opinion
about the conditions.
 The teacher will summarize the effect of
servitude to individuals as cited by the
students and direct the discussion to the
photo below.

who are experiencing it.

 Screen the documentary “REKRUT - HUMAN


TRAFFICKING IN THE PHILIPPINES”
highlighting real-life examples of rescue
operations of child laborers trapped in work
enslavement, rescued 7 children and 20
adults who were victims of human trafficking
and were suffering from deplorable working
conditions in a sardine factory in Navotas,
Metro Manila.

 Have the students discuss their takeaways on


their concept of servitude based on the
documentary that they have watched.

 Encourage them to share their thoughts on


how the agencies of the government on public
health and order can help in the situation of
the victims in the documentary.

Activity: Let’s combat oppression!


Materials: Manila Paper, Pentel Pen drawing tools, and
coloring materials

 Have the students write a pledge of


commitment in combatting servitude. The
content of their pledge should have the
following:
1. Fight servitude.
2. Will not do anything that promotes servitude.
3. Will serve as witness to those victims.
Journal Writing 20 mins
4. Will seek help from the national agencies
concerning public health and order if they
encounter servitude.

 Conclude by emphasizing the importance of


one’s awareness of servitude and seeking help
from the concerned agencies.
