ACOUSTIC ROUTES
March 2008
Blackboard concert
This month’s other star attraction is ... YOU!
Always fancied trying your hand at performing? Well, this month is your chance. The 4th
Sunday of March is Easter Sunday this year, so there will be no Acoustic Routes concert that
night. However as luck would have it, there are 5 Sundays in March, and that means we can have
one of our ever-popular blackboard concerts. Get along to the club in good time to put your name
on the board before the spaces run out.
And if performance is not your cup of tea, the blackboard concerts are good fun for audiences, too.
We get to hear everything from new and emerging performers to veteran performers with new
material and old favourites. It is usually a most enjoyable evening - so see you there!

Wellington-based singer songwriter Carol Bean (pictured left)
made a big impression at the Auckland Folk Festival this year. As
well as performing on the main stage, Carol presented a workshop
entitled ‘The Ashgrove’ that was a festival highlight for some
attendees. Nothing to do with traditional Welsh songs, apparent-
ly, but all about Carol’s early musical experiences at the renowned
folk club of that name in California.
