Is taking risks an important part of life? I would say yes.
The way I see it, we need
risks in our life to grow stronger, as well as to grow as a person. Risk-taking is a way we teach ourselves how to overcome the many obstacles that we face through the lives we all live. We take risks from the time we first start walking until we spend our very last moments on deathbeds. It is impossible to live without taking any risks. The day we take our first steps as children, we risk falling on our backs. As children, we risk going to school where we may be bullied, get a bad grade that could ruin your day, or make lifelong friendships, get a good grade and have fun. Waking up every morning is a risk. We never know how our morning might go. We can wake up to a good day, a bad day, good news, great news, or bad news. Applying to an interesting university, starting a new job, moving away from home, and starting a new family are some of the risks we take throughout our lives. Some people choose not to take the risk, and in the end, they don't know what they missed. But why do people choose not to take the risk? I think people don't want to make mistakes that would attract attention from other people and cause embarrassment. That’s why people choose not to take big risks. Also, sometimes the consequences can be bad and not worth the risk. For example, robbing a bank, you can get a lot of money and have whatever your heart desires, or you will be caught and spend several years in prison. A bit more relevant example: cheating on a test. You can get a good grade without much effort and get more free time on the computer, or you will be caught cheating and have many unpleasant consequences. But that’s just bad examples. There are many good risk examples of when it is worth taking a risk. An example from experience: The teacher presented two poems. Easier one and harder one. After reading the easier one, the highest grade you can get is 8. If you read the harder one, the highest grade you can get is 10. I took a risk and chose the harder one. I could have got a 6 just because it was too hard but, I got 9, I got experience and I got more confidence. The most important thing to remember about taking risks is that you never know what might happen if you don't take those risks. Although it is like gambling with life, but every risk has an impact on your life, whether it is negative or positive, it is important to test it. You'll never know what the result might be until you try.
