enzymes, DNA ligase, Polymerase etc.
Unit-2: Polymerase Chain Reaction 15 Hours
Basic principles modification and applications of PCR Technique, Various types of PCR techniques
and mutagenesis
Unit-3 Tools of Genetic Engineering: Cloning Vectors 15 Hours
Cloning vehicles, Plasmids, Lambda- phage, Phagemids, Cosmids, Artificial chromosomes (BACs,
YACs), Shuttle vectors, virus-based vectors.
Unit -4 Molecular Probes and Method of Gene Transfer 15 Hours
DNA probes, RNA probes, Radioactive labeling, non- radioactive labeling, use of molecular
probes, DNA fingerprinting, Transformation, transduction, Particle gun, Electroporation, liposome
