 What is this?
The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual
Caribbean Carnival event that has taken
place in London since 1966 [2] on the
streets of the Notting Hill area of
Kensington, over the August bank holiday
weekend

The Notting Hill Carnival is a celebration

that highlights cultural diversity and
Caribbean heritage in London, making it a
unique experience for all attendees.

LIVELY MUSIC
The carnival stands out for its
vibrant display of music and
dance, which create a great
atmosphere full of joy and fun
where many have a great time
at ease.
CHARACTERISTICS
DELICIUS FOOD
Their Caribbean cuisine is their
specialty. One of the typical carnival
delicacies is barbecue jerk chicken, with
a tasty, highly seasoned marinade,
although there is also no shortage of
classics such as roti stuffed with fried
fish, goat curry or rice and beans.
FLOATS
More than 100 decorated floats
slowly parade along the parade
route while dancers, dressed in
colorful costumes, encourage
attendees with whistles to the
infectious rhythms of calypso,
soca and percussion.

HISTORY
It was started by black immigrants
from the Caribbean, especially
Trinidad and Tobago, where the
carnival tradition is very strong.

THEN....
He was later revived by a social worker,
Rhaune Laslett, a Londoner of American
and Russian descent. The first Notting
Hill Carnival was held in 1966 on the
streets of Notting Hill for the children of
the neighborhood.
UNREST
In the 70s and early 80s, Carnival
was a place of confrontation
between the police and young
immigrants.
