III. PROCEDURE

A. PRIMARY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities Pupil’s Activities

a.Greetings
Good afternoon Class! Good afternoon, ma’am Espelita.
b.Prayer
Let us all stand up and pray.

The Lord’s Prayer The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name. hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us, as we forgive those who trespass against
and lead us not into temptation, us,
but deliver us from evil. and lead us not into temptation,
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the but deliver us from evil.
glory, For thine is the kingdom and the power,
forever and ever. and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen.
Amen.
Before, you sit down, kindly pck up pieces of
papers under your chair.

(after 1 minute)

You may now take your seat. Thank you Ma’am.

c.Checking of Attendance

Say present if your name is called.

Banquil, Jab… Present ma’am!

d.Checking of Assignment Yes, ma,am!

Do we have an assignment?
Please pass your assignment.

a. Review
What was our topic last meeting in
Math?

So, what do you call the number 1

here? ADDENDS
How about number 2 ADDENDS
How about the result? SUM

Okay, very good!

b. Motivation
Let us try this!

Let us add both sides.

3+5 =? 8
5+3=? 8

In adding this, don’t forget to add first the

numbers inside the parenthesis.
What are the numbers inside the
parenthesis?

Let us add 3 and 1

What is the sum? 4
4 plus 2? 6
Therefore, 6 is the sum of 3+1+2

How about the other side?

Add first the numbers inside the
parenthesis, which is 1 and 2.
3
And add the 3.
What is the sum of the equation? 6
how about this one?
What is the sum of

Very good!
a. PRESENTATION
Our topic this afternoon is about…
PROPERTIES OF ADDITION

This is Aljun and This is Alkin.

They are best friends. One day, while they
were on their way to school, they saw a
mango tree and an apple tree.
Aljun picked 2 apples and 3 mangoes while
Alkin picked 3 apples and 2 mangoes

+ =5
2 + 3 =5

+
3+2=5

So, therefore
2+3=3+2, and this is what we called:
1.COMMUTATIVE PROPERTY

The following are the examples of

Commutative Property

a. 5+1= 1+5
b. 3+6=6+3
c. 2+1=1+2
The second property of addition is…
2. ASSOCIATIVE PROPERTY

These are the examples of associative

property in addition:
a. 5+(1+2)=(5+1)+2
b. (3+4)+6=3(4+6)
c. 2+(5+2)=(2+5)+2

The third property in addition is…

3.ZERO OR IDENTITY PROPERTY

Examples are:
1. 4+0=4
2. 0+2=2
3. 5+0=3

For your activity:

May I request all of you to stand because
we have a game! Who wants to play
games? *Children are raising their hands.
I have here different equation. All you
must do is to fall in line to where the
equation belongs.
So, if you think the equation is an example
of Commutative, you fall in line in the
commutative lane. Same with the
Associative and Zero or Identity.
Did you get it? Yes maam.
Commutative Associative Zero or Identity

5+7=7+5 (1+3)+5=1(3+5) 5+0=5

6+2=2+6 4+(3+2)=(4+3)+2 7+0=7
12+2=2+12 1+(2+4)=(1+2)+4 0+19=19

Very good pupils! Let us give ourselves a

firework’s clap!

b. Generalization Commutative,
So, what are the three properties associative
of addition? and zero or identity property
What property of addition states
the order of the addends does not
affect the sum? Commutative

What property of addition states

that the grouping of the addends
does not affect the sum. Associative

What property of addition states

that the sum of any number and
zero is the same number. Zero or identity property

c. Application

Determine the property of addition use in

the given equation.
1. 2+3=3+2 Commutative

2. 23+0=23 Zero or Identity

2. 6+(2+4)=(6+2)+4 Associative

4. (3+2)+9=3+(2+9) Associative

5. 11+0=11 Zero or Identity

IV. Evaluation Assessment

Direction: Give the property of addition

used Commutative in the given equation.
(Commutative, Associative, Zero or
Identity)

1. 3+2=2+3 1.commutative
2. 5+(8+2)=(5+8)+2 2.associative
3. 34+0=34 3.zero or identity
4. 3+7=7+3 4.commutative
5. 0+32=32 5.zero or identity
6. (7+1)+4=7(1+4) 6. associative
7. 13+0=13 7.zero or identity
8. 1+(3+4)=(1+3)+4 8.asssociative
9. 8+9=9+8 9.commutative
10. 23+2=2+23 10.commutative
V. Assignment

For your assignment

book. And answer page 37.
