Tittle: How to Cook Ikan Bakar

(Grilled Fish)

Equipment
• Fresh whole fish
• 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
• 2 cloves of garlic, minced
• 1 tablespoon of tamarind paste
• 1 teaspoon of salt
• 1 teaspoon of sugar
• 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
• Banana leaves for wrapping

Step 1: Prepare the Fish

Clean and gut the whole fish. Make
diagonal cuts on both sides of the fish to
allow the marinade to penetrate.

Step 2: Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, mix the minced garlic,
tamarind paste, salt, sugar, and turmeric
powder. Add the cooking oil and blend
well to form a smooth marinade.
Step 3: Marinate the Fish
Apply the marinade generously over the
fish, making sure to get it into the cuts.
Allow the fish to marinate for at least 30
minutes to absorb the flavors.

Step 4: Wrap in Banana Leaves

Wrap each marinated fish in banana
leaves, securing them with toothpicks.
This not only adds flavor but also helps
keep the fish moist during grilling

Step 5: Grill the Fish

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Place the wrapped fish on the grill and
cook for approximately 15-20 minutes,
turning occasionally, until the fish is
cooked through and has a smoky flavor.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!

Unwrap the fish and serve it hot with
steamed rice. Garnish with fresh herbs
and lime wedges for an extra burst of
flavor.
