II. CONTENT: The Making of Noli Me Tangere
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to;
Knowledge Discuss the background of the publication of
Noli Me tangere.
The making of "Noli Me Tangere" refers to the process of how Jose Rizal wrote the novel. It
involves his creative inspiration, research into the social and political issues of his time, drafting
and revising the manuscript, and finally publishing the book. Rizal drew from his experiences and
observations of Spanish colonial society in the Philippines to craft a narrative that critiques the
injustices and abuses perpetrated by the ruling class. The novel was published in 1887 and became
a seminal work in Philippine literature, discussions about national identity, colonialism, and social
reform.
