Numeracy – for Babies!
Did you know? Babies are curious to learn right from the very start.

Here’s some of the earliest maths skills that babies develop:

• Playing peek-a-boo: this helps babies learn that an object can

disappear and then return (in this case, your face behind your hands!)

• Stacking blocks and knocking them down – this is the start of

understanding ‘cause and effect’

• Reaching for things and exploring with their senses: baby use their five
senses to understand the world, so when they hold something, they are
starting to understand the idea of ‘one’ item.

Meet our Lead Educators

Each of our rooms has a Lead Educator. They keep a focus on the development of each child, as well as mentoring their
team of Educators In the education and care of all children in the room.

Lead Educators work with our families to make sure each child receives the best possible experience in our care. They are
also responsible for planning and documenting, in line with the Guardian Curriculum and the National Quality Framework!

Here’s our Lead Educators – please come and say hello when you’re in the Centre!

Keeping our
Children Safe!
A friendly reminder as we have recently
welcomed new families; please be aware
of children around you when you are
opening and closing the gates.

We know that certain times of the day

are very busy with families doing pick up
or drop off, and there can be lots of
children around. Please check that you
have closed each gate or door securely
behind you - including those inside the
Centre, so that other children can’t follow
you when you’re leaving. Any questions,
please reach out to me.

Is your family making

the most of your Child
Care Subsidy?
We’re your partner in this learning journey, and we want
to ensure that you are getting maximum use of your CCS
eligible hours.

We know that some families are not getting the full

benefit they're entitled to - so let us help you out!

We can run a quick report for you in QikKids and let you
know how to make the best use of your CCS
entitlements. Please get in touch with me if this is
something you’d like to look into.

Tips for adjusting into new routines!

At this time of year, children are settling into their new learning spaces, and families may also have older children who
are settling into a new year at school.

We’ve got some tips for making this phase easier.

• Get excited! We see excitement become contagious every day here! If your child sees that you’re positive about
their new room and new routine – chances are, they will be too.

• Chat about the changes – it’s great to talk about what they like the most, or they may have questions about it.
Getting settled can create a whole mix of emotions for a child!

• Let them take charge! They might like to have a new responsibility such as packing their water bottle or choosing
their outfit for the day

• As families know, many things can be achieved with patience and support! It can take time to adjust to a new
routine, so words of encouragement each day are always handy.
