3. Learning Resources Laptop, HDMI, TV, 100 pieces 1/8 size of paper, Visual Aid for Difficult Terms, Video Clip
4. Procedures
(1) Prayer.
(2) Ask the learners how are they.
(3) Review on previous topic: Mitosis and Meiosis. The teacher explains to the class on how to participate
for the review. Everyone is included:
(3.1) The teacher shows description on the TV screen.
(3.2) All learners read the description loudly.
(3.3) The learners are given ten (10) seconds to identify whether it describes mitosis or
meiosis and write down his answer on a 1/8 piece of paper.
(3.4) The teacher then flashes the correct answer on the TV screen.
(3.5) Let the learners raise his/her paper if the answer is correct. The teacher says “Very Good!” and

( 5 minutes).
(4) The set of description are as follows:
1. The purpose of this cell division is to produce the sex cells.
Answer: Meiosis
2. The purpose of this cell division is to create body cells.
Answer: Mitosis
3. This cell division produce four daughter cells
Answer: Meiosis
4. The daughter cells of this cell division is different from the mother cells.
Answer: Meiosis
5. This is a type of cell division that has a half the number of chromosomes of the original cell.
Answer: Meiosis
4.2 Activity/Strategy (1) Let the learners to take note of the description of the meiosis by letting the learners read them again as
( 10 minutes). these are being flash on the TV screen.
(2) The teacher asks the question, “Why do you think meiosis is important?”
(3) The teacher calls two volunteers to answer the question. Give positive feedback if the answer is
correct, otherwise guide the volunteers to the right answer by letting them read it on the TV
screen.
(4) Follow up question, “What do you think is significance or importance of meiosis in maintaining the
chromosome number?”
(5) Then again, the teacher calls another two volunteers to answer the question. Encourage the learners to
share their ideas even they think it is wrong, and explain to them that the correct answer is to be
discovered together.

(6) The teacher flashes the answer on the TV screen:

The purpose of meiosis is to shuffle genetic information and cut the cellular chromosome number in
half, from 46 chromosomes to 23 chromosomes. In this way, when an egg and sperm cell combine
during fertilization, the resulting embryo will inherit the appropriate amount of unique genetic
information from each parent.
(7) Let the learners read the explanation of the significance of meiosis in maintaining the chromosome
number.
(8) The teacher unlocks difficult terms in visual aid, then ask the two volunteers to explain what they have
read. The teacher guides the learners as he/she explains the idea. Give positive feedback to the
volunteer.
(9) The teacher then explains the idea being presented in the simplest words or in vernacular
language.
(10) The teacher shows a video clip to concretized the idea of meiosis: showing how the 46 chromosomes
becomes 23 or haploid.
(11) Encourage the learners to asks or clarify things about the video.
(1) Let each learner chose a partner, if possible, the person next to him/her.
(2) Each partner takes turn to ask each other, “What do you think is significance or importance of meiosis
in maintaining the chromosome number?” Each partner is given ample time to state the answer (they

feedback.
