I. Objective
1. Define and describe the concepts of separation of mixtures
2. Differentiate the different types of separation Decantation, sieving, Filtration
3. Enumerate the importances of separating mixtures

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Separation of Mixture

b. * Reference: https://byjus.com/chemistry/solute-vs-solvent/

c. Material: Powerpoint Presentation, crossword template marker, laptop ,

III. Learning Procedure

A. Preliminary Activity
1. Morning Prayer
2. Morning Greetings
3. Energizer - It’ science time again song

B. Review
● Recalling of the previous lesson about solubility
● Process of solubility
● solute and solvent

C. Engage
● Word search game search the hidden words in the inside the template
(Group Activity)
1. Mixture 6. Substance
2. Decantation 7. Particle
3. Separation 8. Adding
4. Filtration 9. Removing
5. Segregation 10. Process

D. Explore
1. Presentation of video about the topic
2. Let the learners discover the different types of separation method

E. Explain
● Decantation - Decantation is a process to separate mixtures by removing a
liquid layer that is free of a precipitate, or the solids deposited from a solution
● Sieving - Sieving is a separation technique based on the difference in particle
size. The sieve is responsible for retaining the larger particles.
● Filtration - is a separation technique used to separate the components of a
mixture containing an undissolved solid in a liquid.
● Winnowing - The process of separating heavier and lighter components of a
mixture by wind or by blowing air

F. Elaborate
● Questions
1. What do you think will happen to the things around us if we don't separate
mixtures.?
2. Are there any benefits we can get out of separation of mixtures ?

G. Evaluation
