Introduction
News writing is a fundamental aspect of journalism, serving as the primary
medium through which information is disseminated to the public. It
encompasses the art of crafting concise, factual, and engaging stories that
provide readers with timely and relevant information about events, issues,
and developments occurring in their local communities, nations, and around
the globe.
 What is
News Writing?
News articles are written to inform and educate the readers on current affairs or events.
They are used to provide readers with information that they need and want to know
about the world around them.
It also discusses current or recent news either general interest or specific topic.

HARD NEWS FEATURE STORIES SOFT NEWS

Hard News: Hard news stories report on
recent and significant events, typically
covering topics such as politics, crime,
disasters, and major developments in
business or science.
Feature stories delve deeper into a
particular subject or issue, often offering
in-depth analysis, human interest angles,
or unique perspectives.
Soft news stories focus on the human side of
the news, highlighting personal experiences,
emotions, and everyday life. These stories
often appeal to readers' curiosity, empathy, or
sense of entertainment rather than delivering
hard facts or analysis.
The Inverted
Triangle Lead
At the very top of the inverted pyramid is the lead (or
lede). This is the opening paragraph of a news story
and contains the most critical information: who, what,
when, where, why, and how. The lead should grab the
reader's attention and summarize the essence of the
story in a concise and compelling manner.

Lead Body
The body of the news story follows the lead and
elaborates on the main points introduced in the
opening paragraph. This section provides additional
details, quotes from sources, and relevant background
